  • Is a high school course worth a credit towards high school. Students must be recommended for Theory in order to take the course in 8 th grade. After taking Theory 1, students will be able to take Music Theory 2 at the high school, and then AP Theory if they so desire. Students who do not take theory now will also have the option of taking the course when they are in high school.

  • The FACS course is divided into two ten-week segments: Food Preparation - In the eighth grade FACS course you will have the opportunity to choose a variety of foods to prepare. This could include yeast breads, pies and desserts, preparing individual food items to include in a full meal and exploring regional and foreign foods. In addition, students will review and continue practicing skills such as measuring and using various kinds of kitchen equipment.

This could include learning how to make clothing using a pattern and fabric of your choice, creating a stuffed animal through the use of a kit, or other options to be explored with your teacher.
