Our fantastic facilities provide the ideal base for equine events. We host more than 60 competitions each year, from unaffiliated shows to international horse trials. These are often open to the public, whether that’s attending an event or hiring an arena. We also offer services to support horse and rider to achieve optimum performance, be it at competition or recreational level.

Equine Therapy Centre

The centre offers a range of equine therapy packages and boasts high-speed and water treadmills, a purpose-built trot-up and an examination room. Our team has a wealth of experience working at community level and helping some of the world’s best performers achieve and maintain peak performance.

The Margaret Giffen Centre for Rider Performance

Our Racewood Event simulator - part of the centre - is the most advanced riding simulator in the world. It enables analysis and monitoring of rider posture and movement for dressage, show jumping and cross country. The centre meets the essential training needs of riders at all levels and includes riding simulators, a strength and conditioning suite and treatment rooms.

Hire our outstanding equine facilitiesHartpury’s seven arenas are all surfaced with an Andrews Bowen Competition mix. This guarantees a consistent surface at all our competitions. The International Hartpury Arena includes a 70m x 40m arena, covered warm-up area and seating for 600 spectators. It also has a 150 seat panoramic restaurant and bar plus hospitality boxes/classrooms. As well as being a fantastic teaching environment for students, it’s a top class competition venue to stage local, regional and international competitions.

There is an international 80m x 60m outdoor arena with a 60m x 25m warm up arena. A further two indoor arenas and on site permanent stabling for 230 horses offers all you need.

Hartpury Arena hosts over 70 competitions throughout the year. These range from unaffiliated shows to international events including the Festival of Dressage and the NAF Five Star International Hartpury Horse Trials. All these fantastic facilities on offer within one centre make Hartpury a popular venue for training camps, demonstrations and forums.

Event Schedule Rules and Conditions

• The organisers and landowners do not accept any responsibility or liability for any accident, damage, injury or illness to any person, animal or property whatsoever arising out of, or at, this event.

• Where applicable, events will be run in accordance with the Official Discipline Rules.

• The committee reserves the right to alter, add or cancel any class, and to refuse any entry without stating a reason.

• Objections must be made, in writing, to the Secretary within one hour of the incident with a £25 deposit. The deposit is forfeited if the objection is not sustained.

• The college has a number of indoor and outdoor arenas, a combination of which will be used to run these events.

• All times are approximate. If any classes are not full, classes may commence earlier than stated. Equally, if there are a large number of entries, subsequent classes may start later than stated. If in doubt, contact the Secretary for details (01452 702397 / 07977908953)

• All competitions to be held at the Hartpury College Equine Centre.

• Dogs must be kept on leads and under control at all times.

• Hartpury College has a strict NO SMOKING policy which applies to all areas of the Equine Centre. You are therefore asked to only smoke in the designated smoking areas.

• All competitors are required to wear headgear that complies with the highest current safety standard.

• Horses/Ponies must not be left tied to lorries/trailers and left unattended

• Please make sure all droppings etc are removed from around your vehicle before departing

• Please note for all Show-Jumping competitions there is a £2.00 per horse charge for first aid cover

All horse/rider combinations placed in the top two of Preliminary, Novice and Elementary classes will qualify according to the qualifying criteria for the South West Hartpury Championship Show on 27th May 2018.

Qualifying Criteria for Unaffiliated Dressage Competitions from 1st September – 13th May 2018• The top 2 horse/rider combinations must have attained a mark of 62%.• Restrictions for horses that are or have been registered to British Dressage• Preliminary qualification: Not to have won any BD or BE points at time of qualification• Novice qualification: Not to have won more than 124 points at time of qualification• Elementary qualification: Not to have won more than 199 points at time of qualification• In the event that you have gained qualification in more than one different section you may take your

place in a MAXIMUM of two of the Championship Classes.• Winning combinations of championship classes in 2017 will not be eligible to compete in the same or

a lower level championship class in 2018.• Entries must be received by Monday14th May 2018

Note: Qualifying cards will be given to competitors who gain qualification on the day of competition. Please register your details with the show secretary and further information and entry forms will be e-mailed out closer to the Championship.

Clear Round is available over the course set, from 8.15am-9.30am on strictly first come first served basis (£4.50 per round). No adjustments may be made to the course. The sale of clear round tickets will stop at any time deemed necessary in order to ensure class 1 starts on time.

Qualifying Criteria for Showjumping:

• The top 3 horse/rider combinations qualify providing they have jumped clear in the first round

• British Showjumping members are not eligible to qualify for Class 1

• British Showjumping members who are in the Gold League are not eligible for qualification in any class.

• In the event that you have gained qualification in more than one different height section you may take your place in a MAXIMUM of two of the Championships per rider

• Winning combinations of championship classes in 2017 will not be eligible to compete in the same or a

lower height championship class in 2018.

Showjumping Rules and Conditions:

• To be run in accordance with British Showjumping Rules.

• The first round is not against the clock but will be subject to a time limit. Those jumping clear in the first round will go on immediately to the jump off section. This will be against the clock.

• No misuse of the whip, equipment or practice fences will be allowed.

• The committee reserves the right to alter, add or cancel any class, and to refuse any entry without stating a reason.

• All dogs must be kept on leads.• Horses and ponies must be four years old and over.• All limits as shown in this schedule.• The judges’ decision is final.• All competitors are required to wear headgear that

These Championships are not affiliated to British Showjumping and will all run under Table A7

Championship 1 –Starter(Height of fences 60-65cm in the First Round)

Championship 2 – Mini(Height of fences 70-75cm in the First Round)

There will be a clear round available throughout the morning, this must be booked with the Championship entry. Clear Round entry fee: £5.00.

British Showjumping Dates 2017 – 2018

Affiliated Showjumping Rules and Conditions

• Entries are confined to registered horses and are to be ridden and owned by members of British Show Jumping in accordance with Rule 79.

• The first two classes at every Hartpury British Showjumping competition are pre-entry and drawn order, entries must be received by 3:00pm the Friday before the competition.

• Entries may be limited and may not be taken after the start of the class.• Entries can be made online – www.hartpury.ac.uk/business-and-commercial/equine-events-and-results/

or via post. Telephone entries will not be accepted. E-mail entries will have a £2.00 admin fee.• The committee reserves the right to alter, add or cancel any class, and to refuse any entry without

stating a reason.• In accordance with Rule 76.6, in the event of insufficient starters, lower prize money may be withheld.• The organisers and landowners do not accept any responsibility or liability for any accident, damage,

Stallions• Competitors attention is drawn to Rule 82-Conduct of Members. It is expected that competitors abide

by this rule at all times when on the show ground.• Rule 82.21. No Member of British Showjumping shall allow a stallion for which he is responsible as

owner, lease, authorised agent or rider, to attend a show, compete or be prepared to compete in any show jumping competition without taking adequate precautions to ensure other horses/ponies, competitors and members of the public are not put at risk of injury. Stallion owners/riders are also asked to note and comply with rule 102.11.
