“Playful and creative: activities we use at lower levels that can engage and aid learning with older students”
By exploring Mitchel Resnik’s spiral process and guiding principles for his “Kindergarten Approach to
Learning”, alternative playful and creative activities can be generated for higher levels of schooling to
supplement more formal academic work. Games, art, tongue twisters, riddles, poems and project work are
not just for little children. Teachers can liven up the classroom while developing students' speaking and
writing skills by using activities normally used with young learners to teach English to older learners.
The canteen at Lenguas Vivas will offer snacks at reasonable prices.12.30 - 2.00.......

Jazz and Class: Legitimate Improvisation
To improvise or not to improvise? That is not the question. We all improvise in our classes. However, as
we have learnt that it is essential to plan classwork, we sometimes feel pangs of guilt when we deviate too
much and too often from the main track that our lessons should follow. Based on a comparison with a jazz
composition, we will attempt to reflect on how improvisation may occur so as to give it the legitimate
status that planning classwork has in our lessons.
