STP Special Tube Plug

The STP plug, built in different sizes and materials, fits in few minutes into the tube of the exchanger’s bundle prior a superficial conic reaming followed by rolling to create threads.

The Roll threading does not weaken the tube, but reinforces instead the boring. The STP plug gives immediate economical benefits, it is not invasive for the tubesheet; also no special tools are required to install it and for a safe commission of the exchanger.

typical installation of a

conical plug and / or

expansion plug for the

exclusion of tubes on

exchangers.

Safety Improved!

The plug screwed gives a solid anchor on the tube preventing the accidental projection when under pressure.

The plug can be easily and safely removed without any risk.

Residual pressure on the tube excluded can be released by a slot provided on the threads, while the plug is still in place and risk of projection of the plug is avoided.

No needs to use screen guards during the inspection of the tube sheet.

Seal welding of the plug to prevent the projection is NOT required

Advantages of using STP plugs

Seal welding of the plug on the tubesheet is NOT required: de-commission

and purging procedure much easier, resulting on significant overall time

saving.

No risk of domino effects so that the number of the tubes to be plugged can be

at the minimum.

No risk of damaging of the tubesheet holes: this allows a retubing without any

repair.

The STP plug can be used for tube’s exclusion and leak sealing either for tubes

welded or rolled to the tubesheet.

Since the plug cannot detached from the tubes, no risk to damage the

machinery of the plant.
