Message from the SHS V.I.P. Booster Club
As the end of another school year approaches, some of our SHS VIP Executive Board and Committee Chairs will be ending their years of service with our school booster club. To ensure the continued success of SHS VIP, we are asking parents to consider volunteering your skills, experiences,
suggestions and helpfulness for a successful 2019-2020 school year. --Warm Regards, Kathy Pyde and Carolyn Trinka, Co-Presidents
SHS VIP Executive Board Elections All positions on the SHS VIP Executive Board are filled on an annual basis with voting at the May General Meeting. Each board position may be held by the same member for a maximum of 2 years. We have several openings this year.
We express our deep appreciation to our outgoing Executive Board members and thank you for your service: Co-Presidents Kathy Pyde and Carolyn Trinka and Treasurer Stacy Ruscheinsky.
Other Executive Board members have expressed willingness to serve a second term, and we appreciate the continuity that this brings to the organization.
We are accepting nominees for all positions. We especially seek candidates for the following positions for 2019-2020: Co-Presidents (both slots) and Treasurer (could be Co-Treasurers)
You can vote, if you were a member of SHS VIP as of March 8, 2019 and you are present at the meeting for the presentation of the candidates. Hope to see you there! And, please reach out to Kathy Pyde ([email protected]) or Linda Gudex ([email protected]) ASAP if you are interested in serving on the board.
Looking for Committee Chairs All events and fundraising efforts are headed by committee chairs. Committee chairs plan events, do outreach to get resources and publicity, and with the help of volunteers, coordinate activities during the event. Planning for bigger events, such as the Fall Arts & Crafts Fair and Post Prom, takes months. Stepping up now makes it possible for you to connect with current chairs and learn the ropes before taking the lead. Being a committee chair is a great way to make a big contribution to SHS VIP!
We are seeking chairs for the following committees: Membership (second co-chair), Concessions (second co-chair), 50/50 Raffle Fundraiser, Blessings in a Backpack, Septemberfest, Craft Fair and Post Prom. We are also considering adding a committee chair for Community Outreach.
Upcoming Events April 9 Dine-to-Donate at Village Tavern 13 Spring Cleaning Savers FUNDrive, 9 am to 3 pm 22 Dine-to-Donate at Lou Malnati’s May 4 Prom and Post Prom 7 VIP Meeting in the Media Center at SHS, 6 pm **Board Elections** Followed by Scholarship Awards Ceremony, 7 pm 24 Last day of school

Post Prom Cruise on Lake Michigan This year’s post prom event is a cruise on the Spirit of Chicago.
We depart from the Westin hotel at approximately 11pm by bus and arrive to Navy Pier to board the Spirit of Chicago. The boat returns at 2am to Navy Pier, and the estimated arrival time back at the Westin-Itasca is 3-4am.
The SHS Post Prom committee is in need of parent chaperones to join us for our Post Prom celebration. Saturday, May 4th (following the prom event), volunteers will board the boat with post prom attendees and take in the scenes of Chicago’s beautiful skyline from the Spirit Cruise all while helping to ensure our students have a safe fun-filled night.
Any parents interested in a fun night of chaperoning should sign up at this link: https://signup.com/go/FYBOqDt
Parent volunteers will receive an email one week before the post prom event with full details.
Seen one of these? You can still get a Senior Yard Sign for your front yard! Available until April 13, more information is on page 6. Or, go straight to the order form here https://goo.gl/forms/Rt6MzKLIhaNk9al53
