ing members of the Pius X Societyof St. Ignatius Loyola R. C. Churchat the Dec. meeting heard a veryenlightening talk, accompaning a
film, by Sisters of the MedicalMissionary Sisters of Mary coveringtheir work in Nigeria, Africa. They
explained “although their work ismainly in establishing hospitals anddispensaries, along with caring for
maternity cases, noone is forgotten, least of all the mistreated, outcast
leper. Now. that sulfa drugs arrest
leper cases and the ever increasingearly ‘diagnosis, more.and more
cases live useful lives. Many returnto their families and homes after
initial treatment period at the lepercolony.
In addition:to nurses, the MedicalMissionary Sisters of Mary havedoctors, sociologists and medical
technicians in their com:runity.Their’ mother house is in Ireland.
A young .organization, establishedin the mid-1930’s, their numbersare still few but their accomplish-ments many.
Sister Theresa, with her pleasantIrish brogue, was a delightful speaker
She answered questions from thefloor and told of several personalexperiences during her’ eight and a
half years in Nigeria. In spite ofthe hardships, oppressive heat andhumidity, her heart lies in Nigeria.
She counts the weeks until she can
return to help those so much lessfortunate than we. ‘

Mr, ‘an Mrs John Ge 20ks are the
Go On Agaithe Festival of Lights, and theOther, a holiday whose spirit and
cheer are expressed in lights of
every hue. What perfect timing, we&
thought. Our impulse was to send
bouquets to LILCO, to our CivicAssoc, - even to our builder -
for a job well planned. Our kind neighbor stopped us from
this rash move. When, with a sobin his voice, he said, ‘‘What a break:for the dogs around here,’’ every-thing turned dark again.
Before it is completely gone, we
will look for some way to retain:» part of our simple, pioneer way
of life. It will be difficult to elim-inate mailmen, and our can can no
longer get the best of a lamp post, but we must wr everything.
