The Foundation Board Meeting was August 10, 2017. Sandon Purcell our Wells Fargo Financial Advisor met with the Board to update us on our investments. Year-to-date our investments are up 8.58% (NICE) and he suggested we stay steady on our holdings of global and balanced funds. The Board agreed.

The summer is coming to a close with the middle of August here, so it is time to start thinking about the start of fall activities. The Board approved the following Grant Requests: from the Reformation 500 Team in the amount of $750 for the Reformation Congregational Dinner on October 8, ‘Celebrating our Lutheran Heritage’; from the Ascension Ladies Guild for the Voters’ Meeting Lunches for 2017-18 for $600; and continued support for Iantha Scheiwe in the amount of $1,500 and Stephanie Lund in Slovakia for $500, both serving as Mission of Christ partners sharing God’s saving gospel message. All requests were approved by the Board. Our Executive Committee will be preparing the budget for 2018, Larry Nisbet is reviewing our presentation on the church website and the Board has several other projects in the pipeline to be announced. Thank you to all who have supported the Foundation recently, especially the Barb Holthaus Family and the Ron Rohde Family.

To support your Foundation with a gift or submit a Grant Request please contact Mike Price at 303-880-0028 or Jim Shelton at 303-794-3504 . For a timely response please have your Grant Request in before the end of the month.

Your caring has been instrumental in helping me through this recovery process, and it's greatly appreciated! If so, please check the prayers and let us know if there are any updates or changes! Thank you!

PRAYERS...WE NEED YOUR HELP!

GOT MUSICAL TALENT? You know where the GIFT of singing or playing an instrument comes from, right? God bestows GIFTS upon mankind so they may be USED. You and your gift of musical talent actually BELONG to the rest of us, did you know that? (“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.” Romans 12)

So this is your wake up call. What GIFT has God given you to share and USE? (“Hide it under a bushel, NO!”) Consider all the opportunities to sing or play as described in the music ministry flyer and sign up today! Try it for a few weeks and see how it feels to let God flow through you!

JOIN ASCENSION’S MUSIC MINISTRY!

We are pleased to announce the introduction of an electronic option for making regular offerings. Contributions can now be debited automatically from your checking or savings account or processed using your credit or debit card. Our new electronic giving program offers convenience for you and much-needed donation consistency for our congregation.

If you are currently giving on a weekly basis, you will no longer need to write out 52 checks a year or prepare 52 envelopes. And, when travel, illness or other circumstances prevent you from attending services, this program will allow your weekly offerings to continue on an uninterrupted basis. All you need to do is visit the church website at http://www.alutheran.org/give-online/ and follow the on-screen instructions at the bottom of the page.
