SPARSAM: An Economical Way to Model Future Space Requirements

Our Scenario Planning and Rapid Space Modelling Tool (SPARSAM for short) is an innovative tool to help estates directorates and project teams to:

•compare existing space allocations with modelled projections;•incorporate real-world dynamics of space usage and calibrate for local standards, practices, behaviours and preferences;•take strategic decisions about future space requirements and estates planning with confidence.

SPARSAM is supported by a wealth of experience of the estates strategy process and a high level of skill in strategic briefing.

SPARSAM has been designed to help estates directorates and project teams to:

•take the politics out of assessing future space requirements;•deliver value from both capital and revenue budgets;•improve end-user satisfaction and engagement in projects.

Conceptual Model‘Models are nothing,

modelling is everything’

Import and Classify Existing Space DataSPARSAM uses a common classification scheme to relate existing space

allocations to modelled projections

Summarise Campus Area Information

Input Scenario Data & ProjectionsSPARSAM readily facilitates the development of multiple planning scenarios

Calibration – Set and Customise Modelling Parameters

Rapidly Compare Scenario Projections with Actual Allocations

Examine Space Issues at Faculty Level

Relate physical capacity directly to teaching and research activity levels

Assists in developing KPIs which are meaningful to academic departments.

Why use the CPB Space Model?

• Easy to use modelling capability for any stage of policy or project development
