    Transmitter

    1. Remove the rear housing, and connect AC powerthrough the 3/4-inch conduit opening to the line

terminals. (Check the nameplate on top of thetransmitter for correct line voltage.)

    2. Apply power. (The indicator at the side of thetransmitter will light when the invisible infrared beam isbeing emitted.) Replace rear housing.

    Receiver

    1. Remove the rear housing. The relay and logic card (ifused) should also be removed.

    2. Place the receiver in its intended location opposite thetransmitter.

    3. Connect the load to the proper terminals.

    4. Connect AC power to the line terminals. (Check

the nameplate on top of the receiver for correct linevoltage.)

    5. Plug the relay in.

    6. Set the mode selector switch to the UP, light operate(L.O.) position.

    7. Turn the sensitivity adjustment fully clockwise(maximum sensitivity).

    8. Apply power.

Alignment can now be accomplished in several ways:

    9. a. Watch the indicator on the side of the receiver. Itlights to indicate alignment. For best alignment, centerthe receiver in the beam. Determine the beam center

by watching the indicator as you move the receiver up,down, left and right.

    b. Use the earphone alignment aid. Remove the pipeplug in the side of the receiver. Plug the earphoneinto the exposed jack. As you move the receiver intoalignment, static gives way to a definite tone at theedge of the effective beam. The tone weakens as youapproach optimum alignment, then gets louder as younear the opposite edge of the effective beam. Midway(both horizontally and vertically) between the twoloudest tones is where the beam is strongest (thoughthe relay will energize anywhere with the effectivebeam.)

    c. Use the earphone cord with a volt meter forprecision alignment. Remove the earphone plug fromcontrol housing and insert the earphone. Position thetransmitter and receiver units until the loudest tone isheard.

If more precise alignment is required, remove the backcover from the controls housing. Connect AC voltmeterclip leads to the ear jack terminals inside the housing.Correct polarity is not required. Set the voltmeter to the 15volt scale. As the receiver is moved into alignment with theedges of the effective beam (see figure below), a highervoltage level will be noted on the voltmeter. Centering thereceiver both horizontally and vertically, midway betweenthe highest readings, gives the maximum strength signal atthe receiver.

Remove earphone jacks. Apply PST type or equivalent pipesealant to earphone plug. Install earphone plug and tightento 20 in/lb. torque. Reinstall rear housing cover.

    10. Tighten the mounting bolts on both transmitter andreceiver.

    11. Block the beam with the object to be detected. (Whenthe beam is blocked, the receiver indicator will beOFF.)

    12. To energize the relay when the beam is blocked dark

operation (D.O.) set the selector switch to the DOWNposition.

If you are using a plug-in logic circuit card:

    13. Be sure the selector switch is in the DOWN, darkoperate, position.

    14. Insert logic card. The sensitivity adjustment on thecard MUST be fully clockwise.

    15. Select light or dark operation with the selector switchon the card.

Dark to operate relay - OUT positionLight to operate relay - IN position

    16. Set the time adjustments, if any, on the card. Turnthe adjustments clockwise to increase the time delayinterval, or pulse.

Replace the rear housing: tighten screws to maintainwatertight, dust-tight sealing.
