September 2012
Greetings,
We are proud to present to you the twelfth annual District calendar. The calendar contains information that will keep
you informed of what is happening at each school throughout the year. It is also a great planning tool. At times, some dates may change because of situations beyond our control. If dates do change, we will make every effort to let you know as soon as possible. You can always access an updated calendar of events on our District website at www.marlboroschools.org.
The summer is always a very busy time for the District. Academically, we continue to refine our programs and curricula to ensure that they meet the educational needs of our students. Our operations and maintenance staff continue to work diligently on the buildings and grounds so that they are clean and safe for the upcoming year.
As a school district, Marlboro embraces the value of academic excellence and looks to continually improve and enhance teaching and learning in our classrooms. The District’s strategic goals will again guide our work as we address the educational and operational challenges ahead.
One of our priorities as a District is to engage the community in the life of the District. We will do everything possible to share important and timely issues and information with you and encourage you to communicate your thoughts and concerns as well.
I know I speak for the faculty and staff of the Marlboro School District when I say that we are looking forward to another productive year full of learning and growth for all of us.
Welcome back!
Sincerely,
Raymond Castellani Superintendent of Schools

Register new students? For all students, Grades K-12, you will need a birth certificate, immunization record, two proofs of residency, custody papers and most recent report card. Call the Registrar’s Office at (845) 236-4077.
Withdraw a student? When moving out of our district, you must register your child in another school before we withdraw your child from our records. At that time, you will sign a release for records which will be sent to us, and we will forward your child’s records to the new district.
Students over the age of 16 can be withdrawn directly from the high school at the end of the school year in which they turn 16. This can be done through the high school guidance office.
Schedule a meeting with a teacher?Contact your child’s teacher or counselor.
Ask questions about a student’s schedule or check on a student’s academic progress? In the Elementary schools, contact the building principal. In the Middle School or High School, contact your child’s guidance counselor.
Visit a teacher or classroom?Call or send a letter to the building principal to coordinate a convenient time to hold an appointment. Register with the office when you arrive at the building.
Obtain classroom assignments for a student with a prolonged illness? If your child will be out more than one day, phone your child’s school. Please allow ample time for the assignments to be gathered. Make arrangements to pick up the assignments at the end of the day.
Resolve a school-related problem? For a classroom-related problem, contact the teacher first. If it is not resolved, contact the building principal. For a building-related problem, contact the building principal.
Discuss transportation questions?Phone the District Transportation Office at (845) 236-5803.
Have medication administered during school hours?Submit a written request to the school nurse, along with written permission indicating prescribed dosage from a physician. Do not send medication with the student. Parents should bring medication to the nurse in prescription containers. Unused medications must be picked up by the parent at the end of the school year.
Obtain permission to use school buildings and grounds?Visit the school District website, www.marlboroschools.org. Look under the “Community” tab and follow the directions on the drop down menu.
Obtain working papers?Pick up the necessary forms at the Marlboro High School Guidance Office. Contact the District Clerk at (845) 236-5802.
Inform the Board of Education of an opinion?Attend a Board of Education meeting, which are held the first and third Thursdays of the month at 7:30 pm, or contact the District Clerk at (845) 236-5802.

• You must be a United States Citizen and at least 18 years of age.
• Voters registered for general elections are eligible to vote in school district elections without further registration provided they voted in a general, special, or primary election at least once within the last four calendar years.
• Residents may register to vote during regular working hours in the Office of the District Clerk located in the District Administrative Offices at 1510 Route 9W, Suite 201, Marlboro, NY 12542, and up until 7 pm on May 7, 2013.
Obtain an absentee ballot?Applications for absentee ballots may be obtained at the Office of the District Clerk located in the District Administrative Offices at 1510 Route 9W, Suite 201, Marlboro, NY 12542 . Residents seeking absentee ballots must be qualified voters of the District and registered to vote.
How do I...? Answers to some common questions
Pre-pay for students’ meals? The Marlboro Central School District Lunch Program has a Point of Sale System that allows parents to pay in advance for breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks.
Children are assigned a pin number which is also the same number as their student identification number. This number is used every year through their senior year of high school. The student enters their pin number every time they make a purchase. A picture of the student shows up on the cashier’s screen so they can properly identify the child to make sure it is his/her account. The money for the item is deducted from their account.
Parents may pre-pay by sending in a check made payable to “Marlboro School Lunch Fund.” Please include your child’s ID# in the memo box. Cash cannot be withdrawn from a student’s account and can only be used for food purchases. Any money left over at the end of a school year will roll over to the next school year.
If you have any questions or concerns please call the Food Service Office at (845) 236-5815.
Qualify for free or reduced lunch?Obtain necessary forms from the main office or director of food service. Complete and return forms to the main office.
