I II Public Policy Polling From: Tom Jensen, Director of Public Policy Polling Subject: Haley/Sheheen Statistically Tied Date: June 25, 2014 A new Public Policy Polling survey of the South Carolina Governor's race finds that the head to head between Nikki Haley and Vincent Sheheen continues to be within the margin of error. Key findings from the poll include: -Haley is polling at 39% to 36% for Sheheen among voters who say they 've made up their mind for this fall. Each candidate also receives another 10% of support from voters who say they may still change their minds between now and November, for a total breakdown of 49/46. Sheheen is keeping the race close despite the Republican lean of the state because he is winning over 17% of GOP voters, reflecting some disaffection with Haley among the party base. -About a quarter of the electorate up for grabs over the next 4 months- either undecided or open to changing their mind about who they will vote for. Sheheen may have more room to grow than Haley because his name recognition is 12 points lower than hers. Among voters who have heard of Sheheen, whether they have a positive opinion of him or not, he leads Haley 50/46. That bodes well for his prospects heading into the fall. -A couple key issues could pose trouble for Haley this fall. 65% of voters in the state say they 're concerned about Haley 's refusal to expand Medicaid, including 50% who express 'major concerns.' There's also an increasing sentiment among voters that the Republican Party 's complete control of the state is helping to create a culture of corruption- 55% of voters believe that is happening to 42% who disagree. -When voters were asked again who they would support for Governor after the questions about Medicaid expansion and the recent GOP scandals Sheheen took the lead at 48/45, including a 46/42 advantage with independents. These are likely to be much discussed issues in the campaign, and when they're on voters' radar screen there's movement away from supporting Nikki Haley for a second term. Our polling on this race has consistently shown it to be very competitive, and that continues as we head into the heart of the campaign. PPP surveyed 698 registered voters from June zo" to 22nd on behalf of the South Carolina Democratic Party. The surve y's margin of error is +/-3.7% . From: Tom Jensen, Director of Public Policy Polling

Subject: Haley/Sheheen Statistically Tied

Date: June 25, 2014

A new Public Policy Polling survey of the South Carolina Governor's race finds that the

head to head between Nikki Haley and Vincent Sheheen continues to be within the

margin of error. Key findings from the poll include:

-Haley is polling at 39% to 36% for Sheheen among voters who say they 've made up

their mind for this fall. Each candidate also receives another 10% of support from voters

who say they may still change their minds between now and November, for a total

breakdown of 49/46. Sheheen is keeping the race close despite the Republican lean of the

state because he is winning over 17% of GOP voters, reflecting some disaffection with

Haley among the party base.

-About a quarter of the electorate up for grabs over the next 4 months- either undecided

or open to changing their mind about who they will vote for. Sheheen may have more

room to grow than Haley because his name recognition is 12 points lower than hers.

Among voters who have heard of Sheheen, whether they have a positive opinion of him

or not, he leads Haley 50/46 . That bodes well for his prospects heading into the fall.

-A couple key issues could pose trouble for Haley this fall. 65% of voters in the state say

they 're concerned about Haley 's refusal to expand Medicaid, including 50% who express

'major concerns.' There's also an increasing sentiment among voters that the Republican

Party 's complete control of the state is helping to create a culture of corruption- 55% of

voters believe that is happening to 42% who disagree.

-When voters were asked again who they would support for Governor after the questions

about Medicaid expansion and the recent GOP scandals Sheheen took the lead at 48/45,

including a 46/42 advantage with independents. These are likely to be much discussed

issues in the campaign, and when they're on voters' radar screen there's movement away

from supporting Nikki Haley for a second term.

Our polling on this race has consistently shown it to be very competitive, and that

continues as we head into the heart of the campaign.

PPP surveyed 698 registered voters from June zo" to 22nd on behalf of the South

Carolina Democratic Party. The survey's margin of error is +/-3.7%.
