SBP8A INSTALLATION
NOTEBe sure to follow specific instructions included with your amplifier installation kit (not included with this amplifier). The information below should be used a general guideline only.
Power Wire (BAT+)•Disconnectnegativebatteryterminalbeforeproceeding.Consultaqualified
technician for instructions if you are unsure.•Planwireroutingbeforecuttinganywirestolength.BeginbyroutingthepowerBAT+wirefromthebatterytotheamplifierlocation.Useagrommetwhenrunningwiresthroughthefirewallormetalopenings.Avoidrunningthepowerwirenearexistingvehiclewiringtopreventinducednoisefromenteringtheaudio system.•Useextremecautionwhendrillingholestoavoiddamagingfuellinesorexistingvehiclewiring.•TheBAT+wireMUSTbefusedwithin18"ofthebatteryforprotectionofthevehicle’selectricalsystem.
Ground Wire (GND)•Theamplifiergroundwireshouldbeasshortaspossible.Chooseacleanunpaintedsectionofmetalorthevehiclechassiswhenattachingthegroundconnection. Be sure to clean the area of any dirt or grease.
Remote Turn-on Wire (REM)•Theremoteturn-onwireconnectstotheheadunit'samplifierturn-onleadorotherswitched12voltsource.
Input Signal •Theamplifier'sinputsignalconnectstotheheadunit'slowlevel(RCA)orhighlevel(speakerwire)outputs.•Dedicatedsubwooferorlowlevelinputssignaldeliverthebestperformance.Ifunavailable,usethehighlevelinputs-wheninterfacingwithfactoryheadunitforinstance.Besuretoobservethecorrectpolaritywhenusingthehighlevelinputs.
CAUTION •Donotusebothlowandhighlevelinputsatthesametime-connectonlyone
or the other. •Neverrunanywiresunderneathoroutsidethevehicle.

Setup and Adjustment of ControlsLowlevel(RCA)inputsignalispreferredforbestperformance. Typical trunk-mount installations requirea17-20footRCAcable.Mosttrucksandbehind-seatapplicationsrequirea6-12footRCAcable.UsingtwistedpairconstructionRCAcableswill minimize noise.
HighlevelinputsshouldonlybeusedwhenRCAoutputsarenotavailablefromtheheadunit.Connecttheheadunitspeakeroutputstothehighlevelinputconnector shown on page 6. Do not use both low and highlevelinputsatthesametime-connectonlyoneor the other.
Theadjustablecrossoverisusedtofilteroutfrequenciesabove70Hz~200Hz.Adjustittowherethe SBP8A sound output blends with the rest of the sound system.
The phase control compensates for delay between the SBP8A output and the rest of the sound system. Beginwiththephasecontrolsetto0degrees.Ifthesoundisadequatefromthenormallisteningpositioninsidethevehicle,nofurtheradjustmentisnecessary. If the sound is thin or lacking bass, adjust the phase control until the bass is full and punchy.
Theinputlevelcontrol(gain)isusedtoobtainthebest possible match between the head unit audio output and the amplifier input. Begin by turning theinputlevelcontrolfullycounterclockwise.Next,turnuptheheadunitvolumecontrolaround3/4ofthewayup.Adjusttheinputlevelcontrolclockwiseuntil audible distortion is heard, then slightly counterclockwisetoprovidethebestmatch. The LED indicator illuminates blue during normal operation.
