Foreword

This Program Outline is issued by the Ministry of Skills, Training and Labour for classes to which apprentices are directed during their periods of apprenticeship training in accordance with Regulations made under the Apprenticeship Act.

It is intended as a guide for instructors of apprenticeship classes. Practical instruction by demonstration and student participation should be integrated with classroom sessions. Safe working practices, even though not specified in each operation or topic are an implied part of the program and should be stressed.

The Program Outline was prepared with the advice and assistance of the Director of Apprenticeship’s Trade Advisory Committee, comprising representatives of labour and management and in cooperation with representatives of Colleges and Institutes. Mr. Dennis Reid, the subject-matter expert, developed this course outline in conjunction with eth Learning Resources Unit of BCIT.
