Scene 1) This is the opening scene. It is an establishing shot. It tells us where the film is set and when it was filmed. It doesn’t tell us much about the genre yet. The opening scene shows us that it is based in a city; this creates a bigger atmosphere as it may involve more people. Scene 2) This scene shows us that it is a busy city. This is an extreme long shot. We see that the costumes of the people are dark, long coats; this suggests that there are working people. We still don’t get a feel for what is about to happen in the film at this point. Scene 3) In this 3 rd scene we see a long shot and first notice a boy walking over to a glass tank. This shows us that there is something interesting him to go out of his way to go and see what it is.

Scene 3) In this 3rd scene we see a long shot and first notice a boy walking over to a glass tank. This shows us that there is something interesting him to go out of his way to go and see what it is.

Scene 4) We now see more than 1 person gather round the glass tank. We see a long shot of everyone gathering. This tells us that something is happening and has caught the eye of everyone.

Scene 5) The next shot we see a close up of two boys faces and by their expression we can tell that something is intriguing them into looking into the class tank. In this scene we feel the tension rise as the music get louder and the tempo increases.

Scene 6) Finally we can see what everyone is looking at and have a wide shot of two men tied down to a desk. The only thing we can make out from this scene is the saws’ by their heads. This helps us read danger from this scene.

Scene 7) Suddenly everyone notices the glass tank with the two men inside and begin to walk over towards it. We see a wide shot of everyone walking and a close up of a boys face peering through the glass.

Scene 8) With this extreme close up of a mans face we can see the terror in his body language. This helps us realize that he’s in danger. The music has increased massively and creates a nervous atmosphere for the audience.

Scene 9) In this last scene we can see an extreme close up of a mans hand tied down. He tugs on the chain as much as he can to get free but doesn’t have luck. The music goes calm and all we hear is the chain rattling. This helps us see the position he is in.
