SERVICE for the WORSHIP of GOD August 13, 2017 Tenth Sunday after Pentecost
THE WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Dr. Summers
WE GATHER TO WORSHIP
PRELUDE: This Is The Day the Lord Hath Made Friedrich Hark
CALL TO WORSHIP: (Psalm 105) Roy Grier
Leader: O give thanks to the Lord, bless his name.
People: Make known God’s deeds among the people.
Leader: Sing to the Lord, tell of God’s wonderful works.
People: Let us rejoice and worship together.
*THE HYMN OF PRAISE: #393 O Day of Rest and Gladness ES FLOG EIN KLEINS WALDVOGELEIN
*THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION: Merciful God, you pardon all who truly repent and turn to you. We confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart, nor have we loved our neighbor as ourselves. We have not done justice, loved mercy, or walked humbly with you, our God. Have mercy on us, O God, in your loving-kindness. In your great compassion, cleanse us from our sin. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us. Do not cast us from your presence, or take your Holy Spirit from us. Restore to us the joy of your salvation, and sustain us with your bountiful Spirit. Amen.
*THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
Leader: God is mercy within mercy within mercy.
People: As far as the east is from the west, so far does God remove our sin as we confess.
All: Friends, believe the Good News. In Jesus Christ we are forgiven.
*THE GLORIA PATRI Hymnal p. 581
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
