The monachus monachus lives in the Med. Sea because its conditions are good and it has all the food it has. But a long time a go they not only lived in the Med Sea but they lived in the Black Sea.

• The Med Monk Seal eats eels, octopus, sardines, mullets, crab, flatfish, lobster and even other seals!!

Food habits

• The Med Monk seal is diurnal. The Med Monk seal likes eating in open spaces to swim faster. It also looks under rocks.

Interesting facts• The Med. Monk Seal molts. Molts mean it sheds

its fur. When it is just born it is wooly black then when it gets older it terns dark gray. When it gets old might change to a liter gray.

• The Med. Monk Seal was on the first coin in 500 BC. Poseidon and Apollo, the gods of Greece. Because the Med. Monk Seal liked sun and water like Poseidon and Apollo do.

Why is it endangered?• The Med. Monk Seal is endangered for many

reasons but the main part is caused by people. Like polluting or littering. Not all endangerments or extinctions are caused by people, I mean think about it millions of years ago there was no people but nature changes over time and scientist believe that the dinosaurs became extinct because of change of weather but so fast that they had no time to adapt to another everymen.

Conclusion• I think that in 100 years the Mediterranean

Monk Seal will no longer be endangered because so many protected animal Company such as CITES. But I am not 100 % shear. I hope that not only the Med Monk Seal but animals will in the future not be endangered and if possible not even threatened.

What has been done to help?• There is a program called CITES that is a

agreement between countries that if you sign no endangered animals can go in of that countries or out of that countries or in the countries. You cant even take a body part because in order to make the animals that are endangered to threatened to not endangered so if there were a scale and they wanted to make it equal they would half to have the same amount of people and plants and animals.
