William Houser Georgia Power, Renewable DevelopmentIn his over ten years at Georgia Power, Mr. Houser’s passion for development led him to serve in a variety of assignments such as acting Director of Pricing and Rates and General Manager for SouthernLINC Wireless. He has built relationships with key internal and external decision makers while creating value through the use of Southern Company’s products and services. Currently, his role as a servant leader in Resource Planning allows him to create value by planning for the generation needs of Georgia Power Company, giving him the opportunity to work as part of a team with numerous organizations within Georgia Power Company and Southern Company.
Some of the key issues Mr. Houser has experience with are:• Development of renewable generation projects in order to lessen Company’s dependence on fossil fuels • Manage the development of Integrated Resource Plans for GPC • Serve as Key Planning Contact for company in the areas of Integrated Resource Planning, Intercompany Interchange Contract (IIC), and Environmental Issues.• Manage the development of the Environmental Compliance Strategy for GPC• Coordinate the development of the GPC 2011 Self-Build Proposal• Performed preliminary research and made recommendations on guidelines for creating Renewable Energy scenarios for Georgia Power Company
Mr Houser is currently working as Sr. Project Manager for the development and construction of 3 x30 MW Army Solar facilities at Fort Benning, Fort Gordon and Fort Stewart. The projects are scheduled to come on line in beginning in Spring 2016. He is also working as Project Manager for the Dalton Solar Project. The largest Company-owned solar facility (1 MW) in the history of Georgia Power.

The National Society for Professional Engineers’ theme for Discover Engineers Week (E-Week) 2015 is “Let’s Make a Difference” and will focus on how to:
• Celebrate how engineers make a difference in our world • Increase public dialogue about the need for engineers • Bring engineering to life for kids, educators, and parents
In recognition of E-Week and its theme, the SAME Savannah post, in conjunction with the local engineering and architectural community, will offer a one day workshop to
provide technical insights that are valuable to all engineering/architectural disciplines.
Our keynote speaker will be, BG (retired) Joseph Schroedel, the new Executive Director of SAME.
This workshop is about successes, trends, new opportunities and technologies. The SAME Savannah Post is seeking fifteen (15) speakers, five for each of the three
tracks, Educational, Engineering, and Environmental with presentations that span the federal, military, state and local sectors in support of this year’s E-Week theme.
