Welcome to the Green Door Art Trail 2016This is our eleventh year and is the largest it has ever been, with a widerange of talented artists opening their studios. We also have severalgroups in various venues.

In addition we have the support of a good number of galleries whichwe are very pleased about. This means plenty of places for you to visit,talk to the artists and perhaps purchase work direct from them.

The Trail is very important to us but is not the only event we organise.On the facing page you will see a list of some of the exhibitions andevents planned for 2016. Not all the events have dates yet as they needconfirming so do keep an eye on the website.

We were pleased to work with Kendal Museum throughout 2015 astheir artists in residence and will be continuing this in 2016.

The Brewhouse at Burgundy’s in Kendal remains a dedicated GreenDoor gallery and we are delighted to continue our relationship withthem. We also have our studio on Market Place in Kendal which ishome to seven artists and runs regular open studio events. Additionalexhibitions will take place at other venues and details of these will befound on our website nearer the time and on our Facebook page -Green Door Artists (please do visit and like our page). You could alsosign up to our Supporter newsletter (either through our website or byemailing [email protected]) and receive regular updates aboutwhat our members are up to.

Green Door artists work in a very wide range of media, both 2D and 3D.We are a friendly, supportive group and welcome new members withenthusiasm. Our website at www.greendoor.org.uk shows the range ofour members, and our membership forms can be downloaded from thesite should you wish to join.

If you’re not an artist but would like to be involved in Green Door, youcan become a Friend. For a membership fee of £10 per year, you willget priority invitations to events, a Trail catalogue, invitations toexhibition private views, the monthly newsletter and occasional talksand demonstrations. You will also be helping Green Door remain asustainable organisation into the future. Information about how tobecome a Friend is on the inside back cover.

Statement: Being born and bred in Cumbria has given me a deep loveof mountains and the natural environment which is reflected in mypaintings which are mostly in mixed media, often using collage, ink andexperimental techniques.

Statement: Thuline, born in Belgium, is best known for her original take on animals. The paintings are colourful and often with unusualperspective. She brings the character of the animals to life. Thulineopened her Studio-gallery in 2013.

Statement: I have always been deeply drawn to the wild-places. Livingin the Lake District and journeying in Scotland, I work direct fromsubjects, carrying or canoeing in with my art materials all the yearround, risking hypothermia for my art. My paintings attempt to sharethese experiences. Without the cold and wet, the dangers and midges.

Statement: I am a multimedia artist living in South Lakes. I have apassion for pattern and colour and I am inspired by the natural world ofthe wonderful area in which I live, its flora and fauna and the everchanging landscape. In my printmaking I use various techniques ofrelief and mono-print and sometimes using chine collé to make eachprint different and unique.
