    December 12, 2020 | 8:30 – 11:45 a.m.Making Your Case With a Better Memory (20-336)

    Credit: 3.0 total CLE hours

Speaker: Paul Mellor; Success Links; Richmond, Va.

As some would say, improving memory is a lot like the weather; it’s something we talk about, but can’t change. We may not be able to change the forecast, but national speaker and author Paul Mellor will dispel the myth that memory can’t be improved. In its simplest form, he will illustrate why we can recall certain events and why we can’t. Using principles of association and mental anchors, attendees will learn how to retain information quickly and accurately.

For attorneys, a strong memory is an advantage in winning cases. This program gives you step-by-step instructions and will share real-life examples to help you effectively retain information.

By participating in this program, attendees will learn how to:

    • Build mental anchors to recall information; • Present case law and speak to jurors without notes; • Complete a cross-examination with confidence; and • Recall names and faces of jurors in trial, clients in presentations and other

    professional settings.

Attendee Bonus: Your registration includes Paul Mellor’s book, “Memory Skills for Lawyers.”

December 19, 2020 | 8:30 – 11:45 a.m.Proactively Addressing Cybersecurity to Keep Your Organization Out of the Headlines (20-369) g Credit: 3.0 total Professional Conduct hours

Speaker: Damon Hacker, MBA, CCE, CISA, CSXF; Vestige Digital Investigations; Cleveland

Organizations of every size and every industry are under constant threat of a cyberattack and we hear and read about large attacks regularly. However, the reality is that more than 60% of attacks affect small and mid-size businesses, such as law firms, who have a lot more to lose if their company appears in the headlines. Reputational costs, bad publicity, loss of clients, difficulty finding good talent, penalties, fines and legal ethics ramifications, including breaches of confidentiality and loss of client information all abound. This presentation will explore how to protect your firm or office, including what works and what doesn’t work when addressing cybersecurity, common mistakes to avoid, building a robust cybersecurity framework and positioning your office to minimize legal exposure and potential ethics violations.

As an attendee, you will learn:

    • Why your organization, is in fact, a target of cyberattacks;• How to protect yourself and client information in a meaningful and measurable

way; and • What considerations need to be addressed to keep your organization out of the

    news headlines.
