Mélanie Poudevigne is a Professor & Program Director in Health and Fitness Management at Clayton State University. Dr. Poudevigne completed her doctoral work at The University of Georgia with an emphasis in psychobiology. She is an accreditation team leader for the Committee of Accreditation for programs in Exercises Sciences (CoAES) and a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) as well as the ACSM Chair for the International subcommittee of the Certification and Credentialing Review Board (CCRB) responsible to teach and promote Exercise Physiology Certifications around the world. As an exercise physiologist from France with a Masters in Exercise Physiology from Université de Marseille and Université de Paris V, she also worked with pulmonary patients in cardiac rehabilitation at the University of Georgia. In addition, she served as a physical activity expert for Southern Regional Medical Center and the Clayton County Board of Health between 2010 and 2012 where she implemented a countywide physical activity initiative aimed at improving the physical fitness of Clayton County Elementary public schools’ children. Dr. Poudevigne is also a Certified Exercise Physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine, and an American Red Cross instructor and Basic Life Support Instructor for the American Heart Association. Her scientific research has focused on the effects of physical activity and sports performance on mental health and pain management. Dr. Poudevigne has conducted and published research related to the effects of exercise on feelings of fatigue in cancer survivors, psychological outcomes associated with exercise during and after pregnancy, and the effects of different exercise interventions in school settings to fight childhood obesity and physical inactivity. Her latest research is in Sports Performance looking at the effects of genes and mental toughness on Sports Performance among the fastest Jamaican elite runners. Dr. Poudevigne has published over a dozen scientific papers and two DVDs for smoking cessation and exercise during pregnancy. She currently collaborates in international research studies focused on mental health & exercise performance in Jamaica, France and New Zealand. She is the author of multiple public health grants and completed her consultancy requirements for the American Association of Sport Psychologists in New York City, NY under Dr. Joan Ingalls. She is the Certified Consultant and host of a worldwide virtual office in Exercise, Health and Sports Psychology and consult from her private practices in Atlanta USA, Paris France and Cape Town South Africa

DR. CLAYTON NICKS

Dr. Clayton Nicks is the senior member of the Exercise Science faculty and serves director of the Exercise Science program which includes a B.S. and M.S degrees. He earned his Ph.D. in Human Performance / Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State University and is a Certified Exercise Physiologist by the American College of Sports Medicine. Prior to arriving at Columbus State University, he was a collegiate cross-country/ track and field head coach and a professional in the corporate health and wellness industry. During his time at CSU, Dr. Nicks helped lead efforts to implement the M.S. Exercise Science degree and he expanded the Exercise Science curriculum by developing a number of undergraduate and graduate courses. His research has focused on the muscles of inspiration and expiration, with additional interests in kinesmetrics and ergogenic aids to performance. He has maintained an active research agenda involving students as much as possible. Dr. Nicks has served as Chair of the Institutional Review Board, President of the CSU Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, Executive Officer of the Faculty Senate, and several other committees. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the Southeastern Chapter of the ACSM, and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

Dr. Yuri Feito is an Associate Professor of Exercise Science at Kennesaw State University. Dr. Feito has been involved in the medical fitness industry for over 15 years working with a variety of clinical population. He obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Exercise Physiology, and is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). His current research interests include adaptations to high-intensity functional training, as well as the study of injuries within this of all ages. training modality. REUBEN DARYL BROOKS

Reuben Daryl Brooks is one of the nation’s top weight loss coaches, a professional fitness model, author, life coach and motivator. He attended Valdosta State University where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology and is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration from South New Hampshire University. His degree allows him to prescribe exercise-training methods to all populations including those with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and asthmatics, those who are obese, diagnosed morbid obesity, older populations, and pediatrics. In 2013, he took the fitness world by storm and transitioned into the professional ranks of fitness modeling and became an international icon after placing 5th in a world competition and making appearances on national television and appearances in countless magazines. His main purpose in life is to inspire others by the ways he lives his life. He does this by breaking barriers, walking confidently towards fear, and doing what others won’t, so he can go where others don’t.
