In her complaint, social worker Dr Nutan Thakur said Vikas Dubey’s actwas extremely heinous but the way in which police has done illegal acts af-ter that, they are also extremely condemnable.

She claimed it has been alleged that Vikas’s uncle Prem Prakash Pandeyand Atul Dubey were killed in the village while they were allegedly presentin the village due to not being a part of the incident.

In a similar way, nobody is able to accept the fact that his aides PrabhatMishra and Praveen Dubey and now Vikas Dubey himself were killed in thepresence of heavy police force.

There are several apparent loopholes in the police story. On the otherhand, his house was razed without any order or the behaviour meted outtowards his wife and children, was illegal and inappropriate.

Ms Nutan has demanded probe into these allegations.

It has been said inIndian culture that anypath can be adopted tokill the dreaded crimi-nals or the elements thatthreaten the peace ofsociety; it is not neces-sary to follow the rules orthe definition of morali-ty. Even in the context ofthe slaughter of Bali byLord Rama, some schol-ars find rules and regula-tions. In the stories relat-ed to the slaughter of sin-ners by Lord ShriKrishna, some peopleraise questions related tomorality and rules. Butwe are talking here thismorning of vicious gang-ster Vikas Dubey killed inan encounter by the UPpolice. Ever since thenews of Vikas Dubey’sencounter in Kanpurflashed, the debate overwhether to call it a realand fake encounter hasstarted.

The culprit ends oneday. The consequencesof the crime world arenot hidden from anyone.Vikas Dubey has also suf-fered the same result. However, since yesterdaymorning when VikasDubey was arrested fromthe Mahakal templecomplex in Ujjain, somepeople were expressingthe opinion that Vikascould be killed in the UPpolice encounter.Encounter took place butthis police action is beingcarried out to test theground reality.

UP police is trying topresent proof-by-evi-dence to prove thisencounter to be real withthe claim of 100% truth.Encounter is the estab-lished rule of conductinga magisterial investiga-tion of a minor criminalor a vicious gangster andasking for witness-evi-dence from people whodo not agree. Since thiscase is about the death ofa big criminal, the level

and scope of the investi-gation will also be wider. The UP government andthe police there can beexpected to adopt trans-parency in the investiga-tion of this case so thatthe doubts of those whoraise the conspiracy canbe resolved.

The day YogiAdityanath said that thepolicemen martyred inKanpur will get theharshest punishmentthat will become prece-dence, from the sameday it was believed thatVikas Dubey is now diffi-cult to escape. Today, weare not included in thegroup of those who calltoday’s encounter a fake.It is too early to make anyassumptions based onfeelings or immediatecircumstances.

At present, the truth isthat Vikas Dubey, accused in more thanfifty serious cases likemurder, robbery, kidnap-ping, has been killed andother people on the pathof crime should learnfrom this.

Yes, it is true that ruth-less murderers like Vikasdo not have the right tolive under the rule of law,but in a democraticnation like India, there isa structured system ofjustice. Above the execu-tive is the judiciary.

The National HumanRights Commission isworking to protect thehuman rights of citizens. There are also large-scaleorganizations such asAmnesty Internationalthat take quick notice ofincidents of humanrights abuses. Whetherthe culprit is small or big,the executive cannot cal-culate his crime, thework of giving justice isdone in the court roomitself. Barring a fewexceptions, India’s judi-cial system has a glorioushistory in this matter.

Resilience and Goals ReorientationWith the spread of the Novel

Coronavirus there has been loads ofresearch to manage a routine, get-ting virtually connected with people, taking out time for hobbies and exer-cise. After having read a few of them, what I realised was that probablywhat we need is an approach todevelop people’s ability to under-stand their disturbing thoughts. It issurprising to see that we livebetween the past and the futurebecause people hold the clipboard ofdisturbing thoughts and feelingstightly that allow the thoughts tolean on us. Pushing them awaymakes the “clipboard” come backwith vigour with extra stress, anxiety, and sadness, overflowing our copingcapacities. Lost in this tussle, pre-sent times seem non-existent to peo-ple.

We try to hold on to the past, as itbrings happiness, helps us avoid thetruthfulness of the present situationand maintain the halo effect. Themain executing channel is the“Brain”. It is a “wandering mass” thathas few functions to perform likecomparing ourselves with others, criticise, dig up unpleasant memo-ries and summon for alternatives forhappier future which eventually donot exist, thus daunting upon ourexistence. The “wandering mass” hasled to increase in human sufferingsdue to the easily, effortless, dreadfulperception of finance, relationships, family health and survival, no doubtadding to the present “fear of uncer-tainty”. Therefore, to make life com-fortable we need a preamble totransform our thoughts and feelings

to direct experience.Non-Judgemental Acceptance has

shown some relief.Astonishingly, Psychology in its

behavioural adaptations in the formof acceptance and commitment(ACT) towards observable actionstalks about creating rich and mean-ingful lives. A behavioural approachfamiliarised by Russ Harris (2011) by

including mindfulness, which wasstarted by Steven C. Hayes in 1986,would help to change the relation-ship with our disturbing thoughtsand feelings so that it no longerholds us back from valued living atthis hour.

The identified missing partresulting in suffering was the accep-tance of how things are at the pre-sent moment (Now). With the pre-sent moment being inconclusive, itoffers more forage to the brain toperform its horrifying acts. Thisneeds to be dealt with least effortintervention.

Ways to Non-JudgementalAcceptance

1) Be Here and NowWe need to connect with the pre-

sent moment because thinkingabout the past and future will nothelp us to reach our goals in life.

2) Be mindful of the present situ-ation.

The reason of avoiding the pre-sent experience is that contacting itthreatens our beliefs. Mindfulness

helps us to broaden our attention ondifferent aspects of the experience.Openness to thoughts will increasepsychological resistance andincrease life-satisfaction.

3) Watch your feelingsThe openness to thoughts will

help us to “observe” our thoughts, to“step -back” and think of alterna-tives of creating meaningful lives atthis time when most people are los-ing their means to a healthy living.

4) Open upOpening up will help us to detan-

gle and accept our feelings. It will beeasier to develop a working plan forgrowth and happiness during thesetimes.

5) Pure awarenessChanging times lead to changing

feelings but individuals do notchange. It is important to visualiseemotions as separate from the indi-vidual because of the person’s same-ness but changing contexts. This willhelp us to look at situations withinthe environment as they are andhelp us to be respectful towards theIndividual. It will help us becomemore understanding of others.

6) Know what mattersBecoming open to our thoughts

and feelings at this time which mightnot be very enriching, will help us inrealising of what really matters to us.Once we know about “what matters”then putting things in perspectivewill lead to planning things that willeventually deal effectively with the“survival crisis”.

7) Do what it takesIn order to reach our goals which

hopefully still remains the same, though the attainment may bedelayed, it will be important to act inkeeping with our values so that wecan feel our lives to be an enrichedone.

NutshellMy idea, here is to make people

accept whatever they are goingthrough (A) as this will help them todevelop non-judgemental attitudestowards self.

Becoming accepting and non-critical of self and the situation willhelp in developing compassion andlove towards oneself. This intrinsiclove and care for self will help peopleto reorient their goals to meet thecurrent situation.

It will help people to take a valueddirection (C) and hence take action(T)to deal with new issues that seemto surface due to Novel Coronavirus. So, ACT!!!

Despite their name, killer whales or orcas arethe largest members ofthe dolphin family.Technically, orcas arealso whales because del-phinids belong to theCetacean order withinthe toothed whale(Odontoceti) suborder. However, the term whaleis typically reserved forbaleen whales of theMysticeti suborder.

Orcas are highly intelligent, highly adaptable and able to communicate andcoordinate hunting tactics. They are extremely fast swimmers and have beenrecorded at speeds of up to 54kph! A wild orca pod can cover over 160 kilome-ters a day, foraging, and socializing.

TikTok said Tuesday it will stopoperations in Hong Kong, joiningother social media companies in wari-ly eyeing ramifications of a sweepingnational security law that took effectlast week.

The short-form video app’s planneddeparture from Hong Kong comes asvarious social media platforms andmessaging apps including Facebook,Zoom, WhatsApp, Telegram, Google and Twitter balk at the possibility of pro-viding user data to Hong Kong authorities.

The social media companies say they are assessing implications of thesecurity law, which prohibits what Beijing views as secessionist, subversive orterrorist activities or as foreign intervention in the city’s internal affairs. In thecommunist-ruled mainland, the foreign social media platforms are blocked byChina’s “Great Firewall.” Critics see the law as Beijing’s boldest step yet to erasethe legal divide between the former British colony and the mainland’s author-itarian Communist Party system.

TikTok said in a statement that it had decided to halt operations “in light ofrecent events.” Facebook and its messaging app WhatsApp said in separatestatements Monday that they would freeze the review of government requestsfor user data in Hong Kong, “pending further assessment of the national secu-rity law, including formal human rights due diligence and consultations withinternational human rights experts.”

Zoom and Microsoft’s LinkedIn issued similar statements on Tuesday.

avirus may hit Russia “even tomor-row”, if people lower their guardand do not pay enough attentionto safety, the World Health Organi-zation (WHO)’s spokeswoman inRussia, Melita Vujnovic, told Sput-nik in an interview.

“No one can make forecasts, astoo many factors play a role. Thereis a possibility it could happeneven tomorrow, if everyone dropsthe guard and people start gather-ing in groups of 1,000 in closedspaces. Even if there is only one in-fected person there, this will beenough,” Vujnovic said, whenasked when the second wave couldbe expected.

At the same time, the spreadingof the virus could be stopped if allthose people immediately ad-dressed doctors, underwent test-ing and self-isolated, the WHO rep-resentative noted.

Vujnovic pointed to the impor-tance of hygienic practices.

“We talk about masks very of-ten. A mask alone reduces the risk, albeit slightly. However, if both youand me wear a mask, wash handsproperly and stay in locations withnatural ventilation, then the risk ofcontracting the disease — even ifone of us is infected — is muchlower compared to a situation withus seating at a 70 centimeter dis-tance and talking like this for 30minutes. In that case, if one of uswas infected, the other one wouldget infected as well. It should beunderstood that mass events maybe held, but there should be con-trol, and epidemiological mea-sures should be implemented. Be-ing too cautious is better than fac-ing a new wave,” Vujnovic added.

Thursday to spend $700 billion onAmerican products and research, challenging President Trump’s“America First” agenda with acompeting brand of economic na-tionalism and setting the stage foran election-year showdown overthe country’s financial future.

In one of his most far-reachingplans since emerging as the pre-sumptive Democratic nominee,Biden called for the federal gov-ernment to spend $400 billion overfour years on materials and ser-vices made in the United States, aswell as $300 billion on U.S.-basedresearch and development involv-ing electric cars, artificial intelli-gence and similar technologies.

He also advocated a 100-day“supply chain review” that couldrequire federal agencies to buy on-ly medical supplies and othergoods manufactured in the UnitedStates. And he urged an end toloopholes that let procurement of-

ficers and federal contractors getaround existing “Buy American”clauses.

“When we spend taxpayers’money — when the federal gov-

ernment spends taxpayers’ money— we should use it to buy Ameri-can products and support Ameri-can jobs,” Biden said in a speech ata metal works plant in Dunmore inPennsylvania, a crucial battle-ground state.

The announcement marked aneffort by Biden to begin laying outhis agenda in more detail aftermonths in which his central mes-sage was Trump’s failures. It alsoamounted to a recognition thatwhile Trump trails in the polls, many voters support his handlingof the economy.

The president has been arguingfor months that the economy willregain its momentum when busi-ness, restaurants and other opera-tions are allowed to reopen. SomeTrump allies were frustratedThursday that Biden offered hisplan before the president an-nounced a similar “Buy American”proposal that officials say has beenheld up for months amid internalWhite House objections.

On Thursday, the US State Department saidthat Washington continues to be prepared toengage in talks with North Korea.

“It was good enough for me to kill breakfasttime by watching the TV news about thechanges of the Americans’ mind-set who wentthe length of indicating signals of the possibil-ity of the DPRK-U.S. summit talks. It is still mypersonal opinion, however, I doubt that thingslike the DPRK-U.S. summit talks would hap-pen this year,” Kim Yo Jong said, as quoted bythe Korean Central News Agency.

She added that the possibility of the sum-mit depended only on US President DolandTrump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

In addition, Kim Yo Jong mentioned thatNorth Korea was committed to denucleariza-tion, but the US should first abandon its “hos-tile policy” towards Pyongyang.

In December 2019, the North Korean lead-ership promised the “Christmas gift,” presum-ably meaning a long-range missile launch, tothe US unless it changes its stance in the de-nuclearization talks. However, North Koreadid not make any hostile movements at thattime.

Kim Yo Jong said that although North Koreadid not give the US a “Christmas gift,” Wash-ington should be worried that such a giftcould be sent on the eve of the US presidentialelections in November. At the same time, thefirst deputy director said that North Korea wasnot going to make threats.

People often use the terms “sprain”and “strain” interchangeably. Theyuse it to describe everything from atwisted ankle to a pulled hamstring, but they are different. Understandingthe difference between the two canhelp you get proper diagnosis andtreatment. Our body has soft tissuesincluding, the muscles, tendons andligaments that help the body move.Strains and sprains happen when thesoft tissue gets injured.

Sprains and strains are commonmusculoskeletal injuries that can oc-cur due to a variety of reasons. If youaren’t able to figure out how to definesprains and strains or can’t identifythe difference between the two, you’re not alone. There are some keydifferences, and knowing what that iscan help you differentiate betweenthe two.

Here are all the differences be-tween a strain and a sprain. What is a strain?

A strain is the injury of the tendonsor muscles. A tendon is a fibrous con-nective tissue that attaches the mus-cle to the bone. Some of the commonareas that get strained include legs,

knees, feet and back. What is a sprain?

A sprain is the injury of the liga-ment, which is a fibrous connectivetissue which attaches bones to otherbones. They are usually locatedaround the joints. Wrists, ankles, thumbs and knees are some of thecommonly sprained areas. What are the symptoms of strainsand sprains?

The symptoms of strains andsprains are not very different. Theyboth cause pain, swelling, bruising(depending on the severity), and lim-ited movement around the joint. Some other symptoms of a strain in-

clude muscle spasm and weakness.Inability to put any weight on thejoint or a weird sensation at the timeof injury are some other symptoms ofsprains. What are the causes? Sprains: Symptoms might be thesame, but the soft tissue that gets in-jured differs. As mentioned above, sprain affects the ligaments, whichcan be caused by falling, twisting orexperiencing trauma. The injury cancause dislocation of the joint and tearor stretch the ligament. Strains: Strains can be acute orchronic. Acute strains occur suddenlydue to lifting a heavy object, running, jumping, slipping or falling. Chronicstrains, on the other hand, can be aresult of repetitive movements or sit-ting or standing in a weird positionfor prolonged periods. Treatment:While causes may differ, the samekind of treatment can be used to helpyou get relief from strains as well assprains. Rest the stretched muscle orligament, then apply ice to the injuryfor about 20 minutes every 3 hours toget some relief.

New Delhi (UNI) Hockey India on Friday an-

nounced that Mohd MushtaqueAhmad is stepping down as itspresident due to personal commit-ments. Mushtaque’s resignationhas come two days after SportsMinistry asked him to step downhaving declared that his election in2018 was violation of the NationalSports Code’s tenure guidelines.

The HI executive board namedManipur’s Gyanendro Nigombam, who was senior vice-president inthe federation, as the officiatingpresident in Ahmad’s place.

‘Hockey India executive boardheld an emergent meeting todayand named Manipur’s Gyannen-dro Nigombam as the officiatingpresident of Hockey India,’ HI saidin a statement.

‘This was following the resigna-tion letter of Mohd. MushtaqueAhmad received by Hockey Indiaon July 7 which cited personal andfamily commitments as the rea-sons. In the meeting convened to-day, the resignation of Mohd.Mushtaque Ahmad was accepted,’it added.

Ningombam has for severalyears been associated with Ma-nipur Hockey and has been instru-mental in supporting talentedplayers and the development ofthe sport at the grassroots level.

He has earlier served ManipurHockey as its Chief Executive Offi-cer from 2009 to 2014 pursuant towhich he was elected as vice presi-dent of Manipur Hockey from 2014- 2018.

Earlier on July 6, in a letter ad-dressed to HI secretary general Ra-jinder Singh, the Ministry asked

the federation “to conduct freshelection for the post of president”by September 30 for the remainingterm.

”...the matter has been exam-ined...and it has been observedthat Mushtaque Ahmad had earlierserved as Treasurer in Hockey In-dia from 2010-2014 and secretarygeneral from 2014-2018. The in-stant term 2018-2022 of Mush-taque as president is his third con-secutive term as office-bearer inHI,” the letter said.

‘Thus his election as presidentof HI is not in consonance with thegovernment guidelines limitingage and tenure of office-bearers ofNational Sports Federations,’ itadded.

Under the Sports Code, office-bearers of a National Sports Feder-ation (NSF) can have only two con-secutive terms of four years each. But following amendments, a pres-ident can hold office for threeterms.

The election of Ahmad as HIpresident in 2018 has been a mat-ter of controversy between the fed-eration and the ministry.

Chronicle Reporter, BhopalElectricity is a basic necessity of

people’s life. Power failure for even ashort while can make everythingcome to a standstill. It will not be anexaggeration if we say that life can-not run smoothly without electrici-ty. Power generation has alwaysbeen a serious issue throughout thecountry. Traditionally, electricity hasbeen generated by thermal powerand hydel power.

In view of the impact of thermalplants on the environment, renew-able energy has been given priorityat the national level. Solar energy isdominant in renewable energy. While there is no harm to the envi-ronment, the cost of electricity pro-duced from solar project is less thanthat of thermal and hydro powergeneration. The strategy of givingpriority to renewable energy gener-ation in Madhya Pradesh also start-

ed in Chief Minister Shri ShivrajSingh Chouhan’s tenure earlier. To-day Madhya Pradesh has becomethe leader in solar power genera-tion.

Madhya Pradesh is in the leadingposition in solar energy generationin the country. The Rewa Solar Pro-ject is included among the world’slargest projects. The 750 MW RewaSolar Project costing about Rs 4thousand crore has started produc-tion with full capacity. Apart fromthis, six projects of 5 thousand MWare under construction. Prime Min-ister Shri Narendra Modi will dedi-cate the Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Pro-ject to the nation on July 10, throughvideo conferencing. About 800 peo-ple have been facilitated with em-ployment by this project.

Rewa Ultra Mega Solar LimitedCompany was formed as a jointventure company of MadhyaPradesh Energy Development Cor-

poration in collaboration with SolarEnergy Corporation of India for Re-wa Solar Project. This project wasselected among the best projects forthe Prime Minister’s Award for Inno-vation at the state level. The mini-mum tariff of electricity producedin this project was Rs 2.97 paisa perunit, which was one and a half ru-pee to Rs two less, compared to thetariff of 4.5 to 5 units obtained fromcontemporary projects.

The Rewa Solar Project is set upon an area of ??1590 hectares. It isone of the largest single side solarplants in the world. Seventy-six per-cent of the power generated fromthe project is being provided to thestate’s Power Management Compa-ny and 24 percent to Delhi Metro. For the first time the project hasprovided electricity to Delhi Metro,a commercial institution outsidethe state, through open access.

This is the country’s first project, which has obtained loan from theWorld Bank for internal gridarrangement. The World Bank loanhas been given at low rates withoutthe guarantee of the state govern-ment and under Clean TechnologyFund (CTF).

In terms of environmental pro-tection, 15.7 lakh tonnes of carbondioxide emissions are being pre-vented every year from the Rewa So-lar Project, which is equivalent toplanting two crore 6 lakh trees.
