In 2011 & 2012 Sassy City Chicks partnered with leading industry manufacturer, General Motors. GM approached SCC with a need to connect the Chevrolet brand with a high end, all-female demographic. The objective: Put 35-50 “butts in seats” per show & create a buzz surrounding the launch of their electric vehicle. The brainstorm: SCC worked closely with Chevrolet’s event team to identify viable strategies and tailor a program that not only met goals, but exceeded them. A clear message grew from this discussion and became the focus of the partnership. The message: Chevrolet stands for stylish, eco-conscious, luxury vehicles – at a fraction of the luxury price!

The strategy: GM/Chevrolet signed on for 6 events in: San Diego

Los Angeles San Francisco

and Miami

The idea was to reach a wide range of shoppers from multiple industries, income brackets, and ethnic groups.

Not only did face-to-face interaction with attendees truly engage the target audience, but over 2,500 female consumers were able to get behind the wheel – that’s 416 women participating per show, surpassing all expectations and goals!

The result Sassy City Chicks generated was unique: a turnkey event program incorporating on-site test drives, static display vehicles, enticing ‘freebies’ and enhanced social media coverage. RIDE & DRIVE: An ingenious expansion of the classic college campus program! Attendees were able to test drive hot new vehicles during the event. Guests were also shuttled to pick up free snacks, giving consumers the opportunity to experience the vehicle and grab a bite to eat after a night of shopping. TRUNK SHOW: A fun twist on the classic “trunk show.” The sponsor selected two designers to feature their merchandise out of the trunks of their most stylish cars, stationed on the show floor. The trunk show became the hottest spot at the event for shoppers and media alike. CHEVROLET LOUNGE: A dedicated area of the show floor where guests could sit and relax before their test drives. Features included direct access to the Chevrolet VOLT (GM’s ‘buzz vehicle’ that year), a live Twitter feed, and a branded photo booth. VIP PREVIEW: An exclusive early-access portion of the event, to allow more ‘butts in seats!’ Select shoppers and media guests were invited to test-drive vehicles and experience the Chevrolet Lounge before the general public event began. Special perks included VIP swag bags, special sweet treats, and more!

Additional fresh ideas include: ‘STYLE ON WHEELS: BLOG MEETS BRAND PARTNERSHIP’ SCC will vet ideal media partners from a close network of online fashion, beauty, and lifestyle bloggers in a given market. Selected blogger will have the opportunity to test sponsor’s vehicle for a week, chronicling the journey online and encouraging followers to attend the event and test drive the car themselves. ‘SASSY SOUNDS: REVVING UP THE SPONSOR LOUNGE’ A fun way to encourage shopper interaction with static display vehicles during an event. Within the sponsor lounge area, SCC’s DJ will set up his/her equipment in the trunk of one of the vehicles and DJ there throughout the event.
