My Brethren,
It is now August and the lodge is as
busy as it has even been. I want to thank
the Craft for all the support they have
provided as we, the officers of the
lodge, strive to serve. It was a wonder-
ful turn out for the Lodge Maintenance
Day. Fun was had by all and everyone
enjoyed the breakfast presented by
yours truly. I would like to consider the
day a success.
I am happy to say that we are seeing
new faces in the lodge. Not just the
newly raised Brothers, but members of
the lodge who have not been attending.
We had Brothers connect at the lodge
clean up who had not seen each other in
years. You should have seen the excite-
ment, even better, FELT the excitement
of not being in contact after so long a
time.
I want to say to all those that are reading
this Trestleboard to come to Lodge. You
might just be surprised who you see. The
Lodge is an active and vibrant setting with
so much fellowship to be had. We are hav-
ing fun and want to invite you to partici-
pate.
We are looking at other dates in August for
the second half of lodge maintenance. This
time we will focus on the interior of the
lodge. This will be comprised of rearrang-
ing the plaques, organizing the closets with
special attention to the ladies restroom. I
will soon provide the date and look forward
to another wonderful time.
I look forward to seeing you in Lodge,
Brother!
Fraternally,
Juan de la Rosa

Greetings from the West,
As we move forward we continue to see more and more applications for the three de-
grees of Masonry come across the Secretary's desk. As this trend occurs, there is an
ever present need for more instructors for catechism classes. My brothers, this is an
opportunity to make an everlasting impression on our newly initiated brothers, the
chance to bond and pass on some life lessons and hopefully wisdom that has been
passed on to you. Throughout my travel there has not been one brother I've spoken
with who doesn't remember who his instructor was! It's time to step up, be that men-
tor and make a difference in your lodge.
Thank you to all who came out for the raising of Brother Harrison Sherwin and especially to those brothers, both from
our lodge and area lodges, who assisted with putting on the degree. Thank you also to those brothers who participated
in the lodge clean-up day; the lodge looks great!
In closing, I want to remind brothers of some lodge room etiquette. Prior to closing lodge, when the Worshipful Mas-
ter asks if any brother has anything to offer the craft, that is the time to come forward with your offering. After the
Worshipful Master has spoken, no one else should request to pass on information, as the Worshipful Master should
always have the final word. Be safe brothers and I look forward to seeing you in lodge.
Fraternally,
Br. Damian Ostermeyer
Senior Warden
From the West
Freemasonry is the oldest, and by far, the largest fraternal order in the world. Its lodges stretch around the globe, and
like the British Empire, it might well be said that the sun never sets upon the Masonic lodge.
Fraternity means an association of brothers, and that is exactly what Freemasonry is - a society of friends and brothers.
The origins of Freemasonry date back to the dawn of civilization. The Egyptians practiced many of the philosophies
known to modern Free masonry, and men practiced many of the operative skills as guilds formed in Europe during the
Tenth Century. Written records of modern Freemasonry have been kept since 1717 with the formation of a general
governing body called a Grand Lodge in England.
It is not a secret society in that its Temples are openly marked and almost everyone in the community knows where
they are located. The Grand Lodge publishes a roster of the members of every lodge in the jurisdiction. Many of the
Lodges have individual bulletins or newsletters which carry the names of the officers and members, as well. Thus it is,
in the strictest sense of the word, a society with secrets, and these are limited to its obligation, its modes of recognition,
such as pass words and grips, etc. and certain parts of its ritual.
It is religious in character, but is not a religion. It is founded upon the basic principle of the Brotherhood of Man under
the Fatherhood of God, and everyone who comes to its lodges must express a particular belief about God, for this is the
privilege of each individual and is not infringed upon by our Fraternity.
Freemasonry practices selective charities, founded on the principle of brotherly need which is not applicable in all cas-
es that appear similar. No member has a specific claim upon the society for its charity, for this is not a right acquired
by becoming a member of the society, rather it is a privilege.

Officers
DeMolay The young men attended Conclave where they
competed in all sports but tennis. Recently
raised Br. Harrison Sherwin passed his collar
as the leader of Florida DeMolay on to his
successor and became a Senior DeMolay.
Keaton won the 1 mile run and was also
awarded the Knight of Jerusalem, a special
order within the Order of Knighthood by Grand Command-
ery. Knighthood is for elite leaders within DeMolay, this
designation places Keaton as the elite of the elite There are
only one or two awards of the order given per year. Our In-
stallation of Officers will be the evening of August 17, time
TBD. It will be a very interesting night with a special cere-
mony honoring Brother Keaton and showcasing DeMolay
ritual. Lodge attendance is strongly encouraged in support of
the good work they all have done thus far. For further infor-
mation on DeMolay contact chapter Dad Br. Larry Bernard
or Br. Andrew Gluchov or one of the other adult advisors.
