1. Open the SAP Fiori launchpad, and log on using the following credentials:

1. Log on the SAP S/4HANA backend system using the following credentials:

a) To log on to the SAP S/4HANA backend system, open the Logon pad and select system T41.

b) Enter the log on credentials provided in the table.

2. Display and check the Configuration Profile for the material T-FC00. Execute the transaction code CU43 – DISPLAY CONFIGURATION PROFILE.

a) Execute the transaction code CU43 – DISPLAY CONFIGURATION PROFILE.

b) Select the Object Material.

c) Choose Continue.

d) Enter the material number T-FC00.

e) Choose Profile overview button..

f) Check the data of the configuration profile.

g) Close the configuration profile.

Note:For later exercises, please leave SAP S/4HANA backend system open.

Work with the SAP Fiori LaunchpadDisplay the configuration profile with the SAP Fiori Launchpad.

1. Open the SAP Fiori launchpad, and log on using the following credentials:

The Display Configuration Profile app is available in the area Variant Configuration modeling.

b) Select the object Material.

c) Choose Continue.

d) Enter the material number T-FC00.

e) Choose Enter on your keyboard to continue.

f) Check the data of the configuration profile.

Note:You see that the layout is nearly the same as in the backend system.

g) Close the configuration profile.

Setup a materialIn this task, you create a new variant configuration model, based on an existing one, a new configuration profile, and work with the Variant Configuration Modeling Environment (PMEVC).

1. Create a new material in the Fiori launchpad. Open the tile Create Material.On the initial screen enter the following data:Material: T-FC##

Industry Sector: M- Mechan. Engineering

Material Type: FERT Finished Product

Copy From Material: T-FC00

Select the following views:

● Classification

1. In the FIORI launchpad, open the Create Material BOM tile.

2. Create a BOM for your T-FC## forklift with a template. Use the following information:

In the class and BOM folders, check the icons and decide which entry belongs to the BOM and the class.

2. Create a configuration profile using the template material T-FC00.Right-click the initial tree object T-FC## and choose Create Configuration Profile(s) with Template.

In the dialog box, only enter the template material T-FC00.

The Interface design applied from material T-FC00 dialog box appears.

Check the configuration tree. The new configuration profile T_FC00 is available.

Double-click T_FC00.

Note:On the Basic Data tab page, the processing mode is set to Classic.

3. Check your model.

On the Basic Data tab page, change the processing mode to Advanced Variant Configuration.

On the Dependencies tab page, add the following object dependency (Constraint):Dependency: T_FC_CN_T-FC00

Add the constraint T_FC_CN_T-FC00 as a dependency.

Save your model.

Test your Scenario (AVC)Work with the PMEVC and test the advanced profile.

1. Choose the Test button inside header area.The screen Select Simulation Mode appears. Select Test with AVC Profile.Perform a value assignment.



Test your Scenario (Advanced)Work with the Simulate Configuration Models app. The app only uses the advanced variant configuration scenario.

1. Search for Product T-FC##.Select the plant-dependent product.

2. Change the Settings as follows:

d) Choose Select All to select all items.

e) Choose Copy.

f) In your new material BOM, choose Save in the footer line.A success message appears.

Check the data of the first level.

a) Open the VC Modeling Environment app.The app is part of the Variant Configuration menu.

b) Enter material T-FC##, class type 300, plant 1010, and BOM application PP01.

c) Choose Enter Model.

d) To check the data, open the first level.

e) Open the class and BOM folders, check the icons.

In the class and BOM folders, check the icons and decide which entry belongs to the BOM and the class.

In the bill of material, look at the entry for item 0110 (road equipment). Here, you can see the object dependency for the road equipment.

2. Create a configuration profile using the template material T-FC00.Right-click the initial tree object T-FC## and choose Create Configuration Profile(s) with Template.

d) Double-click T_FC00.The profiles details appear on the right side of the screen.

e) If necessary, check the different tab pages.On the Basic Data tab page, the processing mode is set to Classic .

f) Save your model.

3. Check your model.a) In the header are, choose Check Model.

b) In Check Options, select every check box and choose Continue.A dialog box appears with the table of prefixes and suffixes.

c) Do not make any changes in the dialog box and choose Forward.

Note:A dialog box appears and shows you green traffic lights.

d) Close the information screen. Select the right button inside information area.

e) Close the configuration screen.

Check the Model in a Sales OrderTo check the model, create a sales order.

1. Open the Manage Sales Orders app.Inside the initial screen select: Create Sales Order.

e) Perform a characteristic value assignment, using the information provided in the tables for Drive, Carrier, and Lift Pole.

f) Do not enter anything on the Additional tab page.

g) Inside the header area choose Next Screen.

h) If necessary: choose Complete dlv. (delivery).

i) Save your sales order.Note the sales order number. You can use this as the copy template to simulate the variant configuration.


Create a Configuration ProfileCreate a second configuration profile for material T-FC## with the advanced variant configuration mode.

1. Open the Variant Configuration Modeling Envmt app.Use the following information:

a) Open the VC Modeling Environment app.

b) Enter material T-FC##, class type 300, plant 1010, and BOM application PP01.

c) To confirm, choose Enter Model.

2. Create an advanced configuration profile and add an object dependency.Select the initial tree object T-FC## with the right mouse and select Create Configuration Profile. Change the name to AVC-T-FC##.

On the Basic Data tab page, change the processing mode to Advanced Variant Configuration.

On the Dependencies tab page, add the following object dependency (Constraint):



Dependency: T_FC_CN_T-FC00

Add the constraint T_FC_CN_T-FC00 as a dependency.

Save your model.

a) Right-click the initial tree object T-FC## and select Create Configuration Profile.

b) In the dialog box, only change the name of the configuration profile to AVC-T-FC##.

c) Choose Continue.On the right, you see details of the new profile.

d) On the Basic Data tab page, change the processing mode to Advanced Variant Configuration.

Note:Most of the classic entries disappear.

e) Add the constraint T_FC_CN_T-FC00 as a dependency.

f) Save your model.

Test your Scenario (AVC)Work with the PMEVC and test the advanced profile.

1. Choose the Test button inside header area.The screen Select Simulation Mode appears. Select Test with AVC Profile.Perform a value assignment.a) In the header area choose the Test button.

The screen Select Simulation Mode appears.Select Test with AVC Profile.

b) Choose Continue

c) Perform a value assignment.

d) Leave Simulation.

Work with Object Dependencies

Create a new dependency.

1. Start the VC Modeling Environment app.Use the following information:

2. Open the configuration profile AVC-T-FC##. Switch to Change mode and continue without using a change number.On Dependencies tab page, choose the Local button to Create New Local Dependency.

In the dialog box, enter the following:

Processing Mode: Advanced Variant Configuration

Dependency Type: Procedure

A dependency with an internal number assignment is created.

3. Define the dependency as follows:

Dependency text: $SELF.T_FC021 ?= 'R'

Check, release and save the data.

1. Start the VC Modeling Environment app.Use the following information:

a) Start the VC Modeling Environment app.

b) Enter material T-FC##, class type 300, plant 1010 and BOM application PP01.

c) To confirm the data, choose Enter Model.

d) Check the data.

2. Open the configuration profile AVC-T-FC##. Switch to Change mode and continue without using a change number.On Dependencies tab page, choose the Local button to Create New Local Dependency.

In the dialog box, enter the following:

Processing Mode: Advanced Variant Configuration

Dependency Type: Procedure

A dependency with an internal number assignment is created.a) Double click the configuration profile AVC-T-FC## inside the object tree.

b) Switch to change mode by choosing the pencil Edit icon.

c) In the dialog box for selecting a change number, choose Continue, without using a change number.

d) Select the Dependencies tab page.

e) In the footer area, choose the Local button.A dialog box appears.

f) Select the Processing Mode ADVC for the type Procedure and choose Continue.A dependency with an internal number assignment is created.

3. Define the dependency as follows:


Dependency text: $SELF.T_FC021 ?= 'R'

Check, release and save the data.

a) Enter the dependency provided on the editing screen.

b) To check the syntax, choose Check.In the footer line, you see the message, Syntax Check Error-Free.

c) Select the Basic Data tab page.

d) Set the status to Released.

e) Save your data.

f) Leave the screen.

Logon to the SAP GUIYou can also start classic SAP GUI transactions from your SAP S/4HANA system.

1. Log on to the T41 backend system using the following credentials:

Copy your ScenarioTransfer a classic scenario to an advanced one.

1. Execute the transaction VCHMOVCOPY to create a copy of the configuration profile T_FC00.

Use the following source data:Material: T-FC##

Valid-From Date: Today’s date

Change Number: no entry

Class Type: 300

Use the following target data:Configuration Profile: AVC-T-FC##

Suffix: _A##

Choose Load data.

Choose Execute Copy. A dialog box appears.

To confirm the copy, choose Yes inside the dialog box.

Check the Display logs.

Model T-FC## / T_FC00 was copied successfully.

Compare Results
