ADS Installation and ConfgurationIntroduction:  Adobe Document Services (ADS) enable form-based processing of business data triggered by both

 ABAP- and Java-based applications. t is an additional SAP !et"eaver solution e#tension included in the SAP!et"eaver usage type AS JavaInstallation checks:

$. $hec% &hether ADS is installed on P Java Stac%http:// <AS Java hostname>:<port>/monitoring/ComponentInfo

  '. f it is installed $onfigure the communication bet&een P and $$f it*s not installed follo& belo& steps to install it.

• Do&nload support pac%age ADSSAP+,+-+++/01/.S$A (SP+,for AD2B D2$34!5

S67$S ,.8) from SAP support portal.

• 3pload S$A file to AS Java server (any temp location).

• 9ogon to AS Java server console via SS: &ith ;sapsid<adm user.

• #ecute telnet localhost <telnet port> and login &ith administrator of AS Java user

( Administrator  or similar).

• #ecute lsc (refer to SAP !ote ,0==)

• Deploy SP+, for AD2B D2$34!5 S67$S ,.8

• telnet localhost ;telnet port< and login &ith administrator of AS Java user to re-connect to Deploy

Configuration: As ADSare running on an AS Java (P) and form processing is performed in an AAP ($$) environment &e have to

configure the communicationbet&een the Eorm Processing Erame&or% running on AS ABAP and the ADS running on

 AS Java.Note: Refer to SAP Note 925741AS ABAP configuration:

$. 9og on to the ABAP system call transaction S40/and select FADSF from F:55P connection to e#t. serverF.%. Specify the server name and http port number of the additional stand-alone AS Java.3. Gou also need to update the corresponding user and pass&ord information on the F9ogon?SecurityF tab.

AS Java configuration: 

$. 9og on to the !et"eaver Administrator of your additional standalone AS Java.%. Select Server -< Service -< destination -< :55P.3. $reate an entry FEP$EDA5A;SD<F &here ;SD< is the ABAP bac%end System D.(. 5nter the AAP ,,P port 6http)001serverna"e)1port in the 89:!8 feld.

*. nter the user FADSA@!5F in the 3ser name field and the corresponding pass&ord of ABAP bac%endsystem.

%. Start the transaction SA81. 3. nter the program name EP5S5++. (. $hoose Program #ecute (E1). *. 4a%e sure that the follo&ing default values are entered in the respective fields>

o  ADS $onnection>

 ADS or the 6E$ Destination name specified in your system (if it does notcorrespond to the default entry) +. $hoose Program #ecute (E1). 7. nter the 2utput Device. <. $hoose Print Previe&. =. f the system displays a form containing several lines on t&o pages the ADS configuration is correct. 2ther&iseperform thetests described belo&.

%. Start the transaction SA81.3. nter the name of the test report EPPDE5S5++.(. nter the name of the connection. nter the default name ADS or if you have specified another name the

one you are using in your system.*. $hoose #ecute (E1).+. f the configuration is correct the system displays the version number of the Adobe Document Services.

$. 9og on to your SAP !et"eaver AS ABAP system.%. $all transaction SA81.3. nter the name of the test report

(. #ecute the test &ithout choosing the option "ithDestination Service.*. 5he system renders a test form in the bac%ground

&ithout using the destination service and displays the siKe of the created PDE.+. #ecute the test again. !o& select the option "ith

Destination Service.7. f the settings of the destination service are

correct the system displays the same message as before (see step 0).

/rganisation -e have 2ava Sta;B on PI& Solution #nagaer.

 

And instead building an additional ADS8s o-n 2ava sta;B -e have used PI in our ;ase.

istori;ally ADS used to be supported only on 3%bit ar;hite;ture 6a li"itation

o4 the Adobe ;o"ponent& even -hile everything else on the 2ava sta;B

-orBed in +(bit& so this -as one reason -hy ADS "ight have been installed

on a dedi;ated host. ortunately& this is no longer the ;ase and hasn8t been

4or so"e ti"e& so this li"itation is gone. 

Nevertheless& I still pre4er to Beep this separate& espe;ially as it8s not a big

deal to spin up a ?#-are instan;e to run it. ,his -ay& -ith no additional

4un;tions& there are no li"itations on NetWeaver versions& and thus you ;an

4reely run ADS on the latest and greatest NW 7.( sta;B -ithout -orrying about

interoperability -ith the rest o4 your lands;ape.

although I -ouldn8t ;all our usage very heavy. o-ever& that8s one additional

pie;e that ;ould be -ritten about 4or ADS ;onfguration) the installation o4 the

Adobe :eader :ights Credential 4or intera;tive 4or"s. I don8t thinB I8ve seen

that "entioned in any o4 the various ADS blogs or do;u"ents I8ve ;o"e

a;ross.
