WHAT IS AN INFO CUBE? Info Cube is data storage area in which we
maintain data Info Cube is a set of relational tables that are
created according to the star schema An Info Cube can function as both a data
target and Info Provider Reports and analyses are based on Info Cubes A reporting user can define or execute queries
against an Info Cube Only Info Cubes physically contain data in the
database It is used to store summarized /
aggregated data for long periods of time

EXTENDED STAR SCHEMA: The benefits of star schema are slicing down,
easy understanding of data and performance increase
In extended star schema, “fact table” and “master data table” is connected through SID (Surrogate ID) table
In extended star schema , fact table and dimension table will be inside the cube

INFO CUBES: Info Cube consists of one fact table to store key figure
values and can contain a maximum of 233 key figures It usually has a minimum of 4 dimensions and a
maximum of 16 dimensions Of these, 13 are customer created and 3 are SAP
supplied dimensions: Unit dimension table: - Created only if there is at
least one key figure of type amount or quantity
Data Package dimension table Time dimension table
Dimension tables do not contain the characteristics/characteristics values, but the corresponding SID keys/values
Each customer created dimension can have 248 characteristics Info Objects

TYPES OF INFO CUBES: Infocube is classified in to three types based on the
way of maintaining and distributing the data1) Standard Info Cube:
Used to maintain the data physically in the cube
Read only is possible2) Virtual Info Cube:
It does not maintain data physically in the cube
During the query execution it brings the data
from respective source system3) Real Time Info Cube:
Stores the data physically in the cube Read and Write are possible It is significantly used in planning the data
