SANTA CUTLERY HOLDERS

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• 50cm Penne Velvet Red

• 20cm Felt (white and black)

• 20cm Black Satin

• White buttons

• Gold buttons for belt

• Sewing Machine and matching thread

• Hand sewing needle and thread

• Pins

• Iron and ironing board

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 – Trace templates onto fabrics. You will need:

• 2 x Main Body from Penne Velvet for the front and back

• 2 x Collar from White Felt

• 2 x Armbands from White Felt

• 1 x Belt from Black Satin

Step 2 – Once all your pieces have been cut out lay the Collar pieces on the right side of the Body pieces. Sew together with a 5mm seam allowance. Fold the felt back and topstitch so it sits upright to create the collar. Repeat on both sides.

Step 3 – Tack the Belt piece and fold in half length ways with right sides facing in, press. Stitch along the raw edge with a 5mm seam allowance. Turn the belt right side out and press. Top stitch along the top and bottom edge to finish the belt.

Step 4 – Position the belt onto the right side of 1 of the main body pieces, pin in place in the centre of the body. Then place the main body pieces together with right sides facing in. Sew around the outside of the body pieces with a 5mm seam allowance, ensure to leave the collar seams open. Make sure the belt has been sandwiched in the seams

and is sitting straight.

Step 5 – Use scissors to snip any excess fabric off around the corners of the body and snip into the seam under the arm to help it sit flat once turned through.

Step 6 – Turn the fabric right side out and push the corners out using a pencil or something similar. Now it’s time to decorate your Santa suit. Using a hand sewing needle and thread sew the White buttons on down the centre of the body and the Gold button to secure the belt in place.

Step 7 – Lastly take the armband pieces of felt and tack in place on the arms with a needle and thread.

Step 8 – Repeat steps 1 – 7 to create multiple Santa cutlery holders!
