PARISH NEWS Presentation: Myths of Grief C.A.R.E. Ministry is sponsoring a presentation on grief Thursday, April 26, 1-2:30PM, given by Bobbie Rill, MA, LPC. Don't miss this opportu-nity to learn important information that could change the way you deal with loss and equip you to help others.

One of the least talked about subjects in our society is grief. Whether the loss is from the death of a loved one, divorce, the end of a relationship, or loss of career, trust, dreams, security or health, grief will continue to adversely affect your life and the lives of those around you due to several myths about grief that people in our society have embraced. Some of those myths are: Time Heals All Wounds, Keep Busy, Don’t Feel Bad and Replace the Loss. In order to effectively deal with our own losses and be helpful to others going through grief, we need to understand why these myths can be damaging and how to move beyond our loss to a richer and more fulfilling quality of life. St. Vincent de Paul collaborates with Kino Border Initiative

KBI is run by the Jesuits in Nogales, Sonora to help illegal immigrants, who have been un-ceremoniously dropped off across the border with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They literally become street people. KBI offers them dignity by offering them food and bedding for up to 2 weeks, while they arrange transportation back to their villages in Southern Mexico and Central America. Their needs are simple: back packs, individual soaps, sham-poos, underwear (especially women’s), etc.

If you would like to help, please drop off your donations at our St Vincent de Paul office (in Marian room) during our office hours, Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 10am till 1pm.

Thank you for your help in this humanitarian effort.

Grief Support Class begins in May Thursdays, May 3-24 from 2:30-4pm. This is designed to be a safe, confidential setting in which information about the process of grief is shared as well as aspects of healing. The group will share experiences, learning’s, rituals and prayer. Parishioners, Carol Morgan, PhD. and Gloria Brown, will lead the group. It is designed for someone who has lost a loved one, be it recently or a few years ago and wants to explore ways of healing within a group experience. The Unbaptized Babies of Bethlehem are honored as Saints in the Church on the Feast of the Holy Innocents (December 28). A Catholic can hope God likewise welcomes as martyrs the little ones who have been murdered by the crime of abortion, an act radically opposed to the Gospel of Life.

As you can imagine it takes many hands to pull off an event of this magnitude and as a result, we would like your help in the following areas:

Help setting up, serving food and drinks, manning game areas, take down, and clean up.

We also need kid prizes for the games. Items such as bubbles, sidewalk chalk, pencils, etc can be donated or you may make a monetary donation.
