Based on the aspirations with long out- standing demand of the admin- istration staff of the Doda Warrior Sports Club and local population of Doda, sports items have been provided under Perception Management activities to the Doda Warrior Sports Club. Addressing the staff of the Doda Warrior Sports Club, the responsibility of Rashtriya Rifles Battalion, Doda empha- sised the importance of sports education and supporting envi- ronment required for all round development of the children. He also stressed upon the stu- dents to become responsible locals of the nation and follow the right path with the founda- tion of good virtues and social values. RD Sharma, Vice Chancellor Jammu University was the chief guest on the occasion, while Rt. Rev Bishop Ivan Pereira was also present. The programme began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest, Manager of the School Sr Stella, Principal of the School, Sr Hema, Primary School Coordinator, Shweta Bakshi and Head Girl, Bhavya Jain. The musical dance drama titled 'Beckoning Light' depicted the agony of an expatriate who had been away from her domain but longs to be part of her realm, her Motherland. Around 100 bouts were held in the event and winners were awarded with cash prizes, with Rs 21,000 for the winner and Rs 11,000 for the runners-up wrestler. The tournament which is underway has 16 teams of var- ious sports clubs and schools of Kargil district and will culmi- nate on Nov 7, 2015. The aim of this cricket tournament is to inculcate sportsmanship, cama- raderie and team spirit amongst the youth of this region besides further developing faith and mutual respect between Army and the local populace. The inauguration ceremony was attended by various Army and Civil dignitaries and also by a large number of locals of Kargil district.

the Spanish pair of GarbineMuguruza and Carla SuarezNavarro to clinch the WTAFinals women's doubles trophyhere today.

Sania and Martina, the topseeds, prevailed 6-0 6-3 overtheir eight-seeded rivals in alopsided summit clash, whichlasted little over an hour.

Before this, Sania andMartina had won eight titles(Indian Wells, Miami,Charleston, Wimbledon, USOpen, Guangzhou, Wuhan andBeijing) and finished runner-up

just once (Rome - falling toWTA Rising Stars Timea Babosand Kristina Mladenovic).

The Indo-Swiss pairingdropped serve only oncethrough the match and broketheir opponents five times towrap up a comprehensive victo-ry.

Sania and Martina are now

unbeaten in 22 matches, stretch-ing back six tournaments. Infact, since their last defeat -- toChan Hao-Ching and ChanYung-Jan in Cincinnati -- theyhave dropped just two sets.

Muguruza and SuarezNavarro -- late replacements inthe draw after Casey Dellacquaand Yaroslava Shvedova's with-drawal -- were completely out-played in the match.

Ranjit Kalra, Member, BCCIand J&K State Sports Councilwas the chief guest on the occa-sion, while Dr Adit Gupta JointDirector MIER was the guest ofhonour.

Other dignitaries present onthe occasion included RupaGupta, Management Represen-tative, Ruchika Gupta, ProjectDirector Humming Buds, UshaGadoo, Vice Principal and RitaKhanna, In-charge of the resi-dency road branch of the School.

The programme commencedwith the Guard of Honour pre-sented by the NCC Cadets andScouts and Guides wing of theSchool. The Head boy and Headgirl of the school welcomed thechief guest with a bouquet offlowers. This was followed bycustomary lighting of the torchand declaration of sports meetopen by the chief guest. Thenational and State level sportswinners upheld the torch with apromise to continue the remark-able achievement of the schoolin sports and games everonwards.

Dr. Gupta presented wel-come address and underlined therole of sports in improving fit-ness and developing life skills ofstudents. He appealed to theaudience to work towards goodhealth to promote longevity andhealthy life.

The beautiful display ofdance steps and Aerobics Drillby the preschoolers mesmerizedthe spectators with their per-formance. The Yoga display bythe students of the primary wingspread the message of innercalm, conquering bigger chal-lenges. A plethora of fun filledathletic events were organizedwherein the young athletes mar-veled one and all with theirbreath taking speed, focus andconcentration. They took part inshopping race, obstacle race,balancing race, beach themerace, go green, rainbow dressrace, treasure hunt, dress your-self, string the beads, relay raceetc. and kept the audience ontenter hooks as the nail bitingfinished ensured a grand conclu-sion. The meet marked the par-ticipation by students of specialschool who took part with greatzeal and gusto. They arousedspecial applause from the audi-ence.

The heartening words of thechief guest, Mr Kalra infusedconfidence in the students to gohigher and perform better. Hesaid that determination, dedica-tion and fair play are the hall-mark of a true sportsman. Hewas presented a memento by theJoint Director as a token ofappreciation.

The tournament which isunderway has 16 teams of var-ious sports clubs and schools ofKargil district and will culmi-nate on Nov 7, 2015.
