Aquinas High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in San Bernardino, California. The IT

department had received numerous requests to provide remote users with quick access to the school’s

internal resources when working from home. Aquinas High School deployed Sangfor’s WAN optimization

solution, including WAN optimization devices and Portable Accelerator Cache Client software, allowing

remote users to quickly access the school’s internal resources.

The school’s IT department faced the challenge

of finding an affordable and efficient network

solution that would enable remote users to

work effectively. Before Aquinas High School

consulted with Sangfor, users were not able

to access the school’s internal resources

when their devices were not connected to

the school network. Furthermore, because

the school district managed the network, it

was very difficult to change any network settings.

The school district recommended Aquinas High School to get its own SSL VPN solutions. “There is

increasing demand to quickly access the internal resources by employees who would like to work

from home, and I personally want to manage the network remotely,” said Gary Schneider, the school’s

IT manager.

Schneider tested SSL VPN and IPSEC VPN, which could help provide access to internal resources but

could not optimize application performance, especially latency-sensitive applications such as Remote

Desktop Protocol and Exchange mail service. Schneider turned to Sangfor after he had learned about
