Strengthening Faith through Inspired Activities in 2020
As announced Sept 20, there will be camps and outdoor activities provided by local lead-ers. Weekday activi-ties based on local
needs will continue to help children learn, develop friendships, serve, and strengthen faith in Jesus Christ. Please see the FAQs at childrenandyouth.lds.org and pass it on to those in your ward/branch. Meanwhile encourage children, parents, and lead-ers to "fully participate in and enjoy the growth and development associ-ated with the existing Primary and youth programs worldwide".
Nov 3 at 4:00 Leadership Training for all presidency members.
The focus will be on the new 2019 Come Follow Me for Primary and new
Activities in 2020, as information become available.
Please use this newsletter in your presidency meetings and as a re-source with those you have stewardship over. This month our online website has been updated with a new easier format with fewer clicks and more scrolling down so you can see at a glance the resources that are available.

Sneak Peak at the new Home-Based Curriculum for 2019 A look at the future of the new was a topic at Education Week in Aug. “After testing the curriculum in seven countries and 35 stakes over four years, the curriculum team said that the results were powerful.” See the full Church News summary by clicking here. ”
Temple Focus
At Libby, Sister Rios placed giant colorful leaves around
the Primary room. Children selected a
leaf with a question, song, or group ac-
tivity on the back, such as tell your fa-
vorite scripture story, lead your favorite
Primary song, with your class say the
first three articles of faith, or what do
you know about the temple? Actually
several children answered the temple question. Wheth-
er your Primary focuses on a set method of prioritizing
the temple or whether you just include the temple in
some way every week, it’s important to remember to
just do it!
Continue the Sharing! We’d like to post your great ideas on the stake website for future use. Please send in a brief description of your simple and inexpensive activi-ties for Activity Days. Include a ref-erence to the requirements in the pamphlet.
Pictures Wanted!
Please send Sister Kopsa pictures and in-ternet permissions (click here for form). It can be from Sept 15 or from your local meetings.
Teacher Council Meetings
Has each member of your presidency attended a Relief Soci-
ety Council meeting at least one time so they can experi-
ence counseling?
What kind of arrangements is your ward/branch making to
allow presidency, teachers, and scout/activity day leaders to
attend the monthly Teacher Council Meeting? Some
wards have a rotating schedule for Teacher Council
Meeting attendance so at least one presidency member can
go with a couple of teachers every month. Other wards have
arranged a special Primary Teacher Council meeting separately.
Still others have teachers and one presidency member attend
while the presidency is doing Sharing and Music time. Find a
combination that works for your needs.
Bonners Ferry 2nd Ward has done away with the old 5th Sunday
and the YM/YW take turns (YM one month/YW the next month)
teaching Primary during the third hour so all adults can attend
Relief Society and Priesthood.
Scouting News
The most recent LOCAL scout news is available at our new online scouting page. The new simple format allows you to see almost everything scouting by just scrolling down!
We encourage you to continue to plan and implement meaningful Scouting activities with your boys and young men. A set of basic prin-ciples and guidelines has been pre-pared to assist you during this tran-sition. (click here)
Don’t miss Trailblazer Day Camp It’s a great way to get excited about cub
scouting, invite friends, and have a fall
opportunity for big activities that are more
difficult to do individually, like bb guns, ar-
chery, etc. Register for Oct 6 at Camp
Cowles by Newport or Oct 20 at Camp
Easton with a ferry ride from Coeur d’
Alene!
Nov 17 BSA Leader Specific trainings &
Merit Badge University Cub & Scout leaders, this is your most
convenient and least cost opportunity to
receive BSA leader-specific training,
which helps you be more effective and
should happen within three months of
your calling. Please encourage 11 year
old scouts to join with the rest of the troop
for this amazing opportunity to earn merit
badges.
Pack Budget and final JTE
As you prepare for fall Journey to Excellence (JTE), ask
yourself these questions:
1. Is the budget being dis-
cussed in committee
meeting regularly?
2. Are you preparing to sub-
mit a budget for next year to
the bishopric? Click here for
a sample Pack budget from
Bonners Ferry
3. Have all current scout leaders completed youth pro-
tection training, turned in applications, and received
leader-specific training?
4. How many outdoor activities has your pack com-
pleted?
5. Are your Service project hours being recorded
online?
