Fifth Sunday of Lent April 7, 2019

Strong words come from Saint

Paul in today’s second reading.

He reveals in no uncertain terms

that life in Christ is our goal.

Everything else, he maintains, is

“rubbish.” Junk. Trash. Garbage.

Is that true? Is everything else

“rubbish” compared to deepen-

ing our relationship with the

Lord? What about putting recrea-

tional activities ahead of attend-

ing Mass? Or preferring uninter-

rupted hours playing the latest

video games or watching TV to

spending time in a bible study

group, choir practice or serving

in a soup kitchen? Or keeping

late hours at work over sharing

the gospel with friends and

neighbors? To what extent do

we exercise stewardship over

Quinto Domingo de Cuaresma 7 de abril 2019

En la segunda lectura de hoy

encontramos enérgicas palabras de

San Pablo. Él revela en términos

directos que la vida en Cristo es

nuestra meta. Todo lo demás, es” sin

sentido.” Chatarra. Desperdicio. De-

sechos. ¿Es esto verdad? ¿Es todo

lo demás “sin sentido” com-

parado con el hecho de pro-

fundizar nuestra relación con el Se-

ñor? ¿Consideramos las

actividades recreativas de mayor

importancia que asistir a Misa? O,

¿damos preferencia a jugar ininte-

rrumpidamente durante horas los

videojuegos más recientes o vemos

los programas de televisión en lugar

de dedicar tiempo a un grupo de

estudio de la biblia, a la práctica del

coro de la iglesia o a servir en un

comedor popular? O, ¿prolongamos

las horas de trabajo compartiendo el

evangelio con amigos y vecinos?

¿En qué medida ejercitamos la

corresponsabilidad de nuestra

Most of these residents do not have a family member who cares for them. We have been asked to collect socks for men and women and toiletries such as chapstick, deodorant, lotion, eye drops, cough drops, band-aids, etc. The nursing home does not provide these items. Join us On April 28th, at The Villa from 2:00 to 4:30 to pray and at 3:00 pm recite the Divine Mercy chaplet. Please leave the items in the container in the gathering space by April 27th.
