San Onofre Campground is one of 5 most visited Parks in California
San Mateo Loop is preferred for its quiet natural beauty and safety
San Mateo Creek Watershed and Trestles
Beach are native habitats for many wild and diverse species of plants, animals, and
wetland birds
Trestles and San Onofre Beaches are two of the most popular surf spots worldwide and the only
Championship Tour stop in the United States
The peace and serenity of Trestles and portions of San Onofre will be lost forever
Southern California campers went to the State Capitol to encourage Legislation to protect our
State Parks
The trip was sponsored by The Sierra Club and Friends of the Foothills
Dick Troy, Retired Deputy Director for California State Parks led them
through the Capitol to meet with legislative members
They also met with Ruth Coleman
Director of Department Of Parks And Recreation
and Karen Scarborough of
The Resources Agency
Letters of support for the State Park were hand delivered to the Governor’s Office and to The
Resources Agency of California
What would Presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon say to those who are
planning to destroy the legacy they worked hard to preserve for the people of
California?
“I firmly believe that one of the greatest legacies we can leave
to future generations is the heritage of our land, …
…but unless we can preserve and protect the unspoiled areas which God has given us, we will have nothing to
leave them.”
Ronal ReaganCalif. Governor Press Statement 1971
