5. THE POWER CIRCUIT TO THE FACP AND TO THE FIRE ALARM POWER SUPPLIES SHALL BE ON A DEDICATED 120V, 20A BRANCH CIRCUIT
BREAKER, AND SHALL HAVE A RED MARKING, LOCK-ON PROVISION AND SHALL BE IDENTIFIED AS "FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT CONTROL." THE
LOCATION OF THE CIRCUIT DISCONNECT MEANS (CIRCUIT BREAKER) SHALL BE PERMANENTLY IDENTIFIED AT THE FIRE ALARM
CONTROL UNIT.
6. UPDATE THE AS-BUILT DRAWING SET DAILY WITH JOB PROGRESS. RETURN THE AS-BUILT DRAWING SET TO SIMPLEXGRINNELL NO
LATER THAN 7 DAYS AFTER FINAL TEST.
7. THE CONTRACTOR WILL MAINTAIN ALL AREAS OF THE BUILDING IN A NEAT AND WORKMAN LIKE MANNER.
8. DO NOT APPLY POWER EXCEPT IN THE PRESENCE OF A FACTORY TRAINED SIMPLEXGRINNELL TECHNICAL REPRESENTATIVE.
9. ANY SMOKE DETECTOR HEAD INSTALLED BEFORE THE BUILDING IS CLEANED AND ACCEPTED SHALL BE COVERED TO PROTECT FROM
DUST. ANY FALSE ALARMS DUE TO DIRT CONTAMINATED HEADS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FIRE ALARM INSTALLER.
10. THE FIRE ALARM INSTALLER WILL MAINTAIN THE FIRE RESISTANCE INTEGRITY OF ALL WALL, CEILING, AND ROOF ASSEMBLIES ANY TIME
THAT WORK IS NOT ACTIVELY BEING PERFORMED.
11. INSTALLATION OF DEVICES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS. POWER LIMITED AND NON-POWER
LIMITED FIELD WIRING MUST BE INSTALLED WITHIN THE FACP ENCLOSURE IN ACCORDANCE WITH MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS
AND NEC.
12. ALL WIRING SHALL BE INSTALLED ACCORDING TO NFPA 70 (NEC).
13. FIRE ALARM CIRCUITS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH APPROPRIATE SECTION OF NEC 760. MARK ALL FIRE ALARM WIRES
IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEC 760 SECTIONS FOR POWER LIMITED AND NON-POWER LIMITED WIRE.
14 FIRE ALARM CABLE INSTALLED IN DUCTS, PLENUM, AND OTHER SPACES USED FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AIR SHALL BE TYPE FPLP.

18. ALL WIRING, INCLUDING SHIELDS MUST BE DRY AND FREE OF SHORTS AND GROUNDS.

1. APPLICABLE STANDARD AND CODES:2013 NFPA 722013 CALIFORNIA FIRE CODE2013 CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE2013 CALIFORNIA MECHANICAL CODE2013 CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL CODE
2. INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM SHALL NOT BE STARTEDUNTIL DETAILED DESIGN DOCUMENTS ANDSPECIFICATIONS, INCLUDING STATE FIRE MARSHALLISTING NUMBERS FOR EACH COMPONENT OF THESYSTEM, HAVE BEEN APPROVED BY DSA.
3. UPON COMPLETION OF THE INSTALLATION OF THESYSTEM, A SATISFACTORY TEST OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEMSHALL BE MADE IN THE PRESENCE OF A DSA PROJECTINSPECTOR.
4. A STAMPED SET OF APPROVED FIRE ALARM DESIGNDOCUMENTS SHALL BE MAINTAINED ON THE JOB SITEAND USED FOR INSTALLATION.
5. ANY DISCREPANCIES BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS ANDTHE CODE OR RECOGNIZED STANDARDS SHALL BEBROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF DSA AND THEARCHITECT/ENGINEER OF THE PROJECT.
6. DSA, ARCHITECT/ENGINEER AND OWNER SHALL BENOTIFIED A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FINALINSPECTION AND /OR TESTING.
7. ALL PENETRATIONS THROUGH RATED ASSEMBLIESREQUIRING OPENING PROTECTION SHALL BE PROVIDEDWITH A PENETRATION FIRE STOP SYSTEM AS IDENTIFIEDIN CBC CHAPTER 7, UL OR OTHER LAB TESTINGCRITERIA.
8. WALL MOUNTED VISUAL NOTIFICATION APPLIANCESSHALL HAVE THEIR BOTTOMS MOUNTED AT 80” MINIMUMAND 96” MAXIMUM ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
9. WALL MOUNTED AUDIBLE NOTIFICATION APPLIANCESSHALL HAVE THEIR TOPS MOUNTED AT 90” MINIMUM AND96” MAXIMUM ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR AND NO CLOSERTHEN 6” TO A HORIZONTAL STRUCTURE.
10. AUDIBLE APPLIANCES TO PROVIDE SOUND LEVEL ATLEAST 15 dB ABOVE THE AVERAGE AMBIENT SOUNDLEVEL BUT NOT LESS THAN 75 dB AT 10 FEET OR MORETHAN 110 dB AT THE MINIMUM HEARING DISTANCE .SOUND LEVEL SHALL ACHIEVE 5 dB ABOVE MAXIMUMSOUND LEVEL HAVING DURATION OF AT LEAST 60SECONDS. MEASURE SOUND LEVEL AT FIVE FEETABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
11. AUDIBLE APPLIANCES SHALL BE SYNCHRONIZEDTEMPORAL CODE 3 PATTERN.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ADJUST/INSTALL ALL DEVICESTO MAXIMIZE PERFORMANCE AND TO MINIMIZE FALSEALARMS.
13. VISUAL APPLIANCES SHOULD NOT EXCEED 2 FLASHESPER SECOND AND SHOULD NOT BE SLOWER THAN 1FLASH EVERY SECOND. THE DEVICE SHALL HAVE APULSING LIGHT SOURCE NOT LESS THAN 15 CANDELA.VISUAL APPLIANCES WITHIN 55' FROM EACH OTHERSHALL BE SYNCHRONIZED.
14. UNDERGROUND AND EXTERIOR CONDUITS TO HAVEWATERTIGHT FITTINGS AND WIRE TO BE APPROVED FORWET LOCATIONS.
15. ALL FIRE ALARM WIRING SHALL BE FLP OR FPLP (FIREPOWER LIMITED OR FIRE POWER LIMITED PLENUM) ASREQUIRED FOR APPLICATION. WIRING IN CONDUITABOVE GROUND MAY BE THHN OR THWN.
16. PER CEC STANDARDS, ALL WIRING IS TO BE PULLEDTHROUGH EACH JUNCTION BOX AND CONNECTEDDIRECTLY TO EACH FIRE DEVICE. DO NOT SPLICE THEWIRE. THERE MUST BE AT LEAST 6" OF LEAD WIRE FROMTHE BOX TO THE DEVICE. ALL BOXES TO BE SIZED PERCEC.
17. SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL NOT BE INSTALLED CLOSERTHAN 1' FROM FIRE SPRINKLERS OR 3' FROM ANYSUPPLY DIFFUSER. IN AREA OF CONSTRUCTION ORPOSSIBLE DAMAGE/CONTAMINATION, NEWLY INSTALLEDFIRE ALARM DEVICES SHALL BE COVERED UNTIL THATAREA IS READY TO BE TURNED OVER TO THE OWNER.
18. ALL FIRE ALARM CIRCUITS SHALL BE IN CONDUIT,SURFACE RACEWAY OR OPEN RUN ABOVE CEILINGS,UNDER FLOORS AND IN WALLS IN A NEAT ANDPROTECTED MANNER AS INDICATED ON DESIGNDOCUMENTS. EXPOSED CIRCUITS ARE ONLY PERMITTEDWHEN NOTED AS EXPOSED ON DESIGN DOCUMENTS.
19. FIRE ALARM PANEL, REMOTE PANELS, POWER SUPPLIESAND COMPONENTS SHALL BE SECURED TO MOUNTINGSURFACES PER MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS. NOSINGLE DEVICE SHALL EXCEED THE WEIGHT OF 20 LBS.WITHOUT SPECIAL MOUNTING DETAILS.
20. A DEDICATED BRANCH CIRCUIT SHALL BE PROVIDEDFOR FIRE ALARM EQUIPMENT. THIS CIRCUIT SHALL BEENERGIZED FROM THE COMMON USE AREA PANEL ANDSHALL HAVE NO OTHER OUTLETS. THE BREAKER SHALLHAVE A RED LOCKING DEVICE TO BLOCK THE HANDLE INTHE “ON” POSITION. THE CIRCUIT BREAKER SHALL BELABELED “FIRE ALARM CIRCUIT CONTROL”. CIRCUIT IDTO BE LABELED AT FIRE PANEL/EXTENDERS.
21. THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ARECORD OF COMPLETION PER NFPA 72, FIGURE10.18.2.1.1.
22. CONTROL PANELS AND REMOTE ANNUNCIATORS SHALLBE INSTALLED WITH THEIR BOTTOMS MOUNTED AT 48”ABOVE FINISHED FLOOR.
23. THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SYSTEMPROGRAMMING FOR SUPERVISORY MONITORING PERCBC SECTION 901.6.2.
24. SUPERVISORY MONITORING SHALL BE TESTED ANDVERIFIED AS SENDING CORRECT SIGNALS INCONJUNCTION WITH FINAL ACCEPTANCE TEST.
25. OWNER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING AFIRE SYSTEM MONITORING CONTRACT OR PROVISIONS.
