Carol Alban, flute & vocals, has performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, CBGBs, the Blue Note, Yoshi’s, and the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. She was principal flutist with the Bay Area Chamber Symphony. She composes and teaches privately.

Areon Flutes, formed in 2005, features Jill Heinke, Kassey Plaha, and Amelia Vitarelli. Areon’s mission aims to help guide the future of flute chamber music through diverse and innovative concerts and educational programs. As Miyazawa Artists, they won Bronze Medal at the 2008 Fischoff Competition and made their Carnegie Hall debut in 2007 with rave reviews.

Pianist Dmitriy Cogan began music studies at the age of six at the Central Music School in Moscow. He studied conducting at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and continued his piano studies with Vladimir Pleshakov and Maria Cysic. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Dmitriy currently is a Pianist-in-Residence at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

Flutist Gail Edwards is a member of the Sacramento and Modesto Symphonies and is active throughout the Bay Area as a freelance flutist. In addition to her flute choirs, GEMS Flute Choir and Bel Canto Flutes, she is an Artist-in-Residence at SF SotA and General Manager of the Oakland Youth Orchestra.

Nicole Esposito, Flute Professor at the University of Iowa, enjoys a multifaceted career as a soloist, recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician. She has recently appeared as a guest artist in the US, Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Colombia, Italy, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland. She is the host of the annual Iowa Piccolo Intensive Summer Work-shop. Her teachers include Jeanne Baxtresser, Amy Porter, and Marianne Gedigian.

Miles Graber

Miles Graber is a pianist of wide reputation and abilities. He has performed with numerous internationally acclaimed artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Sarah Chang, and Mimi Stillman. He is on the faculty of Crowden School, San Domenico Conservatory and the San Francisco Conservatory, prep division.

Described as “An imaginative artist,” by the New York Times, Juilliard graduate Viviana Guzmán has been seen on PBS, NPR, Univision, in Latina Style Magazine, and COS-MOPOLITAN. By the age of 15, she had played as a soloist with orchestra, studied with Jean-Pierre Rampal, and featured on a John Denver nationally televised NBC special. Viviana has performed as a soloist with orchestras around the world in 119 countries.

Flutist Christina Jennings is praised for virtuoso technique, rich tone, and command of a wide range of literature featuring works from Bach to Zwilich. The Houston Press de-clared: “Jennings has got what it takes: a distinctive voice, charisma, and a pyrotechnic style that works magic on the ears.” The first flutist in fifteen years to win the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, other honors include First Prize at the Hous-ton Symphony Ima Hogg Competition and the William C. Byrd Competition. Active as a concerto soloist, Ms. Jennings has appeared with over fifty orchestras.

Based in Santa Cruz, CA flutist Lars Johannesson works as freelance performer and teacher. He enjoys a range of different musical styles and is a versatile performer on both modern, early and folk flutes. Lars studied with Tim Day and Wilbert Hazelzet.

Internationally performing flutist and singer Rebecca Kleinmann comes from a diverse background in Jazz, Classical, Gospel, Brazilian music and Flamenco. Her “Raio de Sol” CD features an eclectic mix of her arrangements with Grammy musicians. Happily new to the Bay, she performs widely and teaches for Music for Minors, CMC, and privately.

Linda Lukas

Linda Lukas joined the San Francisco Symphony in 1990. She was previously a member of the San Diego Symphony and Opera, the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, and the Arioso Wind Quintet, which has recorded two CD’s on the Koch label. In addition, Linda has been Principal Flute and frequent soloist of the Sun Valley Summer Sym-phony since 1996, and has been Instructor of Flute at San Francisco State University since 1991.

Director of the The Camellia City Flute Choir, Marty Melicharek is based in Sacra-mento. The group was organized in 1999 with seven performers. Over the intervening years the group has grown to 15 -17 players and enlarged the ensemble with the addi-tion of alto, bass and contra-bass flutes. The choir has appeared at the 2005 and 2010 National Flute Convention.

Keisuke Nakagoshi began his piano studies at the age of ten, arriving in the United States from Japan at the age of 18. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Composition and Master’s degree in Chamber Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Mr. Nakagoshi is Pianist-in-Residence at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music and also a founding member of ZOFO duet.

Marion Oliver

Marion Oliver, Director of The Champagne Flutes of Vacaville, has a B.A and M.A. in flute performance from Sacramento State University. She is currently 1st chair with the Vallejo Winds, a position she has held for over a decade. In addition to running a music lesson studio and teaching flute choir, she hopes to one day teach at the college level.

Teresa Orozco is the 2nd/assist. principal of the Monterey Symphony and New Music Works. In 1983 she toured with the SF Merola Western Opera Company. Teresa is Mu-sic Apprec/Theory/Band Director at Valley Christian Schools for the Jr. Conservatory, has a private lesson studio in San Jose and is conductor of the Avant Flute Choir of the SJYS for past 9 years. Teresa plays with salsa band Tumambo.

Flutist Pamela Ravenelle received her Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music majoring in Flute Performance, where she studied with Barbara Breeden. She also studied privately with the legendary Marcel Moyse the last year of his life in West Brattleboro, Vermont. Ms. Ravenelle also holds a Community College credential. She currently teaches at the Crestmont Conservatory of Music in San Mateo and the College of San Mateo where she is the director of MagicFlutes Flute Orchestra.
