Local Kids’ Winning Water Conservation Art

Displayed at Libraries and Grocery Stores

SAN DIEGO –Using water wisely, all day, every day, rain or shine, is a way of life San Diegans have been successful in embracing. That said, a little reminder from some very creative school children can only help to reinforce those good habits. Local elementary school students have designed posters to help us continue to spread the conservation message throughout San Diego. Specifically, 19 posters were the winning entries in the Public Utilities Department’s 2012 Water Conservation Poster Contest. The theme, San Diegans Waste No Water, embraces our community ethic. Until the end of March, these 19 posters will be on display at libraries and grocery stores at various locations in the city. After that, they will be displayed at other high-visibility spots as a way to recognize these talented kids and spread the message of wise water use. 2013 Contest Underway In addition to the public display of the 2012 winners, the 2013 contest is in full swing, and is a great way to help children develop good water habits that they can maintain for the rest of their lives. The contest is open to all children grades 1-6 in the cities of San Diego, Coronado and Imperial Beach. If your child or student wants to enter the 2013 poster contest, visit www.WasteNoWater.org and click on the “Contests” web link on the right. The deadline for entries is March 27. In the meantime, keep an eye out for the 2012 winning entries the next time you’re out shopping for groceries or borrowing a book at these locations:
