2. Notes on discs

CD-R Discs• Some CD-R discs may not be playable depending on the disc recording device (CD-Recorder or PC) and the

condition of the disc.

• Use a 650MB/74 minute CD-R disc.

Do not use CD-R disk over 700MB/80 minute as much as possible since it may not be played back.

• Some CD-RW (Rewritable) media, may not be playable.

• Only CD-Rs that are properly "closed" can be fully played. If the session is closed but the disc is left open, you

may not be able to fully play the disc.

CD-R JPEG Discs• Only files with the ".jpeg" and ".JPEG" extensions can be played.

• If the disc is not closed, it will take longer to start playing and not all of the recorded files may be played.

• Only CD-R discs with JPEG files in ISO 9660 or Joliet format can be played.

• JPEG file names should be 8 characters or less in length and contain no blank spaces or special characters (. / = +).

• Only a consecutively written multisession disc can be played. If there is a blank segment in the multisession disc, the

disc can be played only up to the blank segment.

• A maximum of 9,999 images can be stored on a single CD.

• When playing a Kodak/Fuji Picture CD, only the JPEG files in the picture folder can be played.

• Picture discs other than Kodak/Fuji Picture CDs may take longer to start playing or may not play at all.

Disc Recording Format

CD-R MP3 Discs

• Only CD-R discs with MP3 files in ISO 9660 or Joliet format can be played.

• MP3 file names should be 8 characters or less in length and contain no blank spaces or special characters (. / = +).

• Use discs recorded with a compression/decompression data rate greater than 128Kbps.

• Only files with the ".mp3" and ".MP3" extensions can be played.

• Only a consecutively written Multisession disc can be played. If there is a blank segment in the Multisession disc,

the disc can be played only up to the blank segment.

• If the disc is not closed, it will take longer to begin playback and not all of the recorded files may be played.

• For files encoded in Variable Bit Rate (VBR) format, i.e. files encoded in both low bit rate and high bit rate

(e.g., 32Kbps ~ 320Kbps), the sound may skip during playback.

• A maximum of 500 tracks can be played per CD.

• A maximum of 300 folders can be played per CD.

Directions in Installing Speaker Installation in a place near heating apparatus, under direct lay oflight or with high humidity may cause performance degradationof the speaker.

Do not install on the wall or on a high place of pole or otherunstable place to prevent any safety accident caused by falling ofthe speaker.

Do not take the speaker apart from TV or computer monitor.The speaker near the TV or computer monitor may influence thequality of the screen display.

The loudspeaker connector terminals are located on the rearof the system (red and black tabs).

There are four terminals on the system:Two for the left speaker (marked L)Two for the right speaker (marked R)

2. Main Functios

This unit has been designed to playback the CDs: Audio CD,CD Text, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3-CD.

Continued use of irregular shape CDs (heart-shape, octagonal,etc.) can damage the unit.

Select the CD function by pressing MP3-CD( ) button.

Press the PUSH EJECT ( ) button.Result: The compartment opens.

Place your disc in the compartment, with the label on the disc facingupwards.

Close the compartment by pressing the PUSH EJECT ( ) buttonagain until it clicks into place.

Press the MP3-CD( ) button.

Your CD Player will take a few moments to scan through allthe tracks recorded on a particular MP3-CDThe English name of the song may be indicated on the displayonly if directly downloaded from the PC or if the purchasedMP3-CD is sorted according to titles(directory). (Other languages besides English may not be indicated.)The English name of the track may not be indicated depend-ing on the characteristics of the MP3-CD.

To stop playback temporarily, press the MP3-CD ( ) button.

Press MP3-CD ( ) again to continue playing the disc.

Press the STOP ( ) button when you have finished.

The album and track of the MP3-CD desired to listen may beselected on stopping or during playbacks.

You can select the album by pressing TUNING/ALBUM button on the remote control.

Result: ALBUM is displayed.

To move the album, press the or button.

To move the track , press the , button .Result: TRACK is displayed and the track number is moved.

You can select the track you wish to listen to, either when thecompact disc player is stopped or when a disc is playing.

When listening to a compact disc, you can quickly search for aspecific music passage on a track.

To search through the tracks... Press and hold down...

Forwards for at least one second

Backwards for at least one second

It is recommended that you turn the volume down before usingthis function.

Searching for a Specific Music Passage on a CD

Function to skip through 10 tracks at a time

Press the +10 button briefly while playing back a CD. The track 10 tracks after the current one will thenbe played back.

Example: If you want to select track 43 during playback of track15, press the +10 button three times, and then pressthe button three times.

When MP3-CD playback is selected again after your CDplayer has been stopped or turned off, this function allowsplayback from the start of the track that you last listenedto.

Press the PROGRAM/SET button while your MP3-CD is beingplayed . The LAST ON and LAST OFF may be repeatedly selected.

Last Memory Function(This function is only available during playback of MP3-CD.)

You can repeat indefinitely:A specific track on a compact disc.All tracks on the compact disc selected.

To repeat... Press Repeat on the Front Panelone or more times until...

The current track indefinitely REPEAT 1 is displayedAll songs REPEAT ALL is displayed

When you wish to stop the Repeat function, press STOP( ) button.Result:REPEAT is no longer displayed and the function is cancelled.

EQ /S.BASS (Super Bass) Function

Your Micro Component system has a bass amplification functionand equipped with a preset equaliser that allows you tochoose the most appropriate balance between treble and bassfrequencies , according to the type of music you are listeningto.That is called EQ/S.BASS. This function makes the sound more powerful and real.

Press EQ/S. BASS on the front panel or EQ/S. BASS on the remotecontrol until the required option is selected.

Power sound function

This machine is equipped with the function of POWER SOUND,which amplifies bass treble output to twice as much for powerfulsurround-sound.

Press the POWER SOUND button on the front panel.Result: P.SOUND is displayed for a few seconds.

A more powerful resonant sound is diffused.

To cancel this function, press POWER SOUND again.Result: OFF is displayed for a few seconds.

To obtain the best possible results from your micro compo-nent system, you must clean the following elements regularly:

The outer casingThe compact disc playerThe cassette players (heads, rollers and drive capstans)

Always unplug the system from the wall outlet:Before cleaning itIf you are not going to be using it for a long time

Outer CasingClean the outer casing regularly using a soft cloth and a light detergent. Donot use abrasive powders, liquids or aerosol cleaners. Never let any liquidsget into the system.

Compact Disc Player

Before playing a compact disc, clean it with a special CD cleaningagent. Do not use the same cleaning agents as for vinyl LP records.Carefully wipe the disc from the centre outward.

Regularly clean the player with a special cleaning disc (available fromyour local dealer).

Tape Decks

Press Push Eject( ) to open the cassette deck.

Use a cotton bud and a special cassette cleaning agent to clean the:

Check that the tape in the cassette is sufficiently taut.To prevent erasing a cassette that you wish to keep, remove thesafety tab on the upper edge of the cassette. To record a cassette,where the tab has been broken, simply cover the opening withadhesive tape.When you have finished playing a cassette, always put it back in itscase.Store your cassettes in a clean place, out of direct sunlight, wherethey will not be exposed to high temperatures.Avoid using 120-minute cassettes as they place unnecessary strainon the tape mechanism.

Handle your compact discs with care.
