By using a minimalist approach we were able to maximize benefits with minimal costs. The embodied energy spent to demolish a perfectly good design is often far greater than any savings produced by creating even the most sustainable new design. We tend to think best solution to a problem is to start from a clean slate with a brand new concept. This approach is costly, inefficient and unsustainable. Our approach takes responsibility for the previous acts for the professions by creating minimal intrusion for a maximum outcome. The landscape itself today is static and has been for the past ten years. Its success was attributed to the dynamic events procured by the Museum exhibitions, which no longer exist on the site. Making the landscape a dynamic entity will allow the design to grow and mature with companay.

Using existing urban plaza typologies from the old city in Copenhagen, this new waterfront development will mesh with the existing urban fabric. The unquie character-istics of these urban plazas such as pedestrians streets arranged with an irregu-lar street grid will create an enviroment which directly relates to human scale. The building volumes act as the spatial organizer for the ubran plaza’s and court-yards, which will create new thresholds between the pub-lic and private realm. A rich social, economic and living enviroment is created, which is ready to be discovered by urban dwellers.
