Whenever I give Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes to children overseas, I am amazed at the way God uses these simple gifts to bring such great joy to every boy and girl. But the most important thing of all is that every child has the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Last year, God blessed Samaritan’s Purse with over 10 million gift-filled shoeboxes, allowing us to share His love and the true meaning of Christmas with more than 123 million children since 1993.As you collect Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts this year, pray that the children who receive them will hear the Gospel and ask to receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. TIPS FOR GETTING YOUR CHURCH INVOLVED
PROMOTE OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
• Order pre-printed shoeboxes and download or request free resources from our website: operationchristmaschild.org.au/resources
• Get the word out through announcements and notices/bulletin inserts.
• Show a video from our project USB or website.
• Invite an Operation Christmas Child representative to share about the project.
TAKE ACTION
• Have a shoebox packing day in October for your church where everyone brings their gifts and packs shoeboxes.
• Churches could act as a shoebox Drop Off Point for their local community.
VOLUNTEER
• Contact your local processing centre and arrange for your church members to volunteer to help process shoeboxes.
Build your church with Operation Christmas ChildWhy not host a Shoebox Packing Day at your church this year and invite your local community to participate? Watch the video on our Church USB entitled “Build your Church with Operation Christmas Child” to see how a church in Western Australia has done this with amazing results!
1 Around Easter, invite your church members to start collecting items for shoeboxes.
2 In early September, launch Operation Christmas Child in your church. Ask your church members to bring in the items they have collected and display them on the stage at your church.
3 In late September, invite your church members and local community to pack shoeboxes together at a Shoebox Packing Day. Ask guests to bring empty shoeboxes and a $9 donation per shoebox to cover project costs for Operation Christmas Child. Alternatively, you can order pre-printed shoeboxes online at operationchristmaschild.org.au for 50 cents per box.

More than 2.1 million children in nearly 100 nations have made decisions for Christ after participating in the evangelism and discipleship program of Operation Christmas Child.
Millions more can come to know Jesus and grow in their faith through The Greatest Journey, our life-changing, 12-lesson Bible study. Just $7 (AUD) or $8 (NZD) will enable a child to do The Greatest Journey. Consider partnering with us to bring kids to Christ. In an open air compound in Fiji, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are being given to waiting boys and girls.
Simran, a 7 year-old Indo-Fijian girl, opens her shoebox to see the wonderful treasures inside. She overhears some church kids talking about creation and the love of God and wants to learn more. With her parents’ consent, she attends The Greatest Journey kids program at the local church.
As she does The Greatest Journey, Simran hears the Gospel. Her parents, Dinesh and Vinita, see the change in their daughter and the joy she has at church and start coming to church too.
The pastors share the Gospel with Dinesh and Vinita and pray for them. Just three weeks after receiving her shoebox, Simran and her parents have become Christians.
Dinesh and Vinita say, “Now we are living with great hope, even though we are facing some family issues. We are boldly sharing the Good News with our family every opportunity we can find.”
