available online about 10 days before the show. If you do not receive mailed confirmation of your entries and
a Judging Program by 6 days prior to the first specialty, please e-mail or phone the Show Secretary.

Junior Showmanship – ALL Shows
The bottom back of the entry form MUST be filled out with the Junior’s information,
including AKC number, in order for the entry to be accepted. Call the American Kennel Club to obtain a number. 919-816-3595. At Specialty shows, the dog handled must be of the breed for which the show is held. There must be competition
in order for Best Junior to be awarded. BITCHES IN SEASON ARE NOT PERMITTED.
Entry fees are FREE for JS as a second entry for the dog
and $5 as a JS entry only
NOVICE CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years and under 18
years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have not won three First Place Awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or
member show.
OPEN CLASS: For boys and girls who are at least 9 years and under 18
years old on the day of the show and who, at the time entries close, have won three First Place Awards, with competition present, in a Novice Class at a licensed or
member show. Juniors which according to their records have completed the requirements to compete in the Open Class but whose status is unconfirmed by the American Kennel Club are limited to competing in the Open Class for a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the Junior completed the requirements
according to their records.
MASTER CLASS: This Class will be for boys and girls who are at least 9 years
and under 18 years old on the day of the show and who, have won 10 first place wins
in an Open Class with competition to be eligible to enter the Limited Class Competition. The calendar for this class will be November 2 – October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the
eligibility time frame for that year has passed all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year.

Summer Splash Specialties– Prizes and Awards Unless otherwise noted, prizes and awards are donated through the
generosity of the individual clubs. Trophies, prizes and monetary awards will be awarded in the judging ring to the person exhibiting the dog, who will be considered to be the owner or agent of the owner. All claims for trophies and other prizes must be made in the judging ring before the completion of the judging of the breed, and the Show Chairperson advised at once of any discrepancy. The Show Secretary and show-giving club disclaim any liability for such prizes after the judging of the breed is over. NO AWARD WILL BE MAILED! The Saluki Club of American and the Empire
Saluki Club each reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should a prize not be available.

Veteran Classes: Are open to all Salukis seven (7) years old and over
on the day of the show. Judging will take place after regular Dog or Bitch classes, prior to Best of Breed Judging. While a Champion may be entered
in both Veteran and Best of Breed classes, a dog must be undefeated to
enter the BOB ring. Remember, a dog NOT winning the Veteran Class is
ineligible to compete in BOB, even if it is entered. • Note: AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows. Chapter 11, Section 8 states:
Neutered dogs and spayed bitches are allowed to compete in Veteran Classes only at independent specialties and/or those all-breed shows which do not offer
any competitive classes beyond Best of Breed. These are each independent Specialties. Winners of these Veteran Classes are eligible to compete in the Best of Breed Ring.
Coursing Dog Classes: Are open to Salukis who have earned an ASFA
FCh, OFC Tite, or an AKC FC. Because the winners of the class will compete for Best of Breed, all entrants must also meet ALL American Kennel Club
Requirements for Non-Regular Classes involving single dog entries. Proof of non-AKC coursing championship titles must be provided with entry.
Non-Regular – Multiple Dog Classes (for dogs and bitches) Stud Dog Class: For Stud Dogs and two (2) but not more than six (6) of their get. It is not necessary that all Get be under the same ownership
as that of the Stud Dog. The Stud Dog must be entered in the Stud Dog
Class and shown in the ring with his Get. The Stud Dog may be entered separately in one of the Regular or Non-Regular classes at the normal entry fee, with Stud Dog’ class indicated on the entry form in the space for

• The Get MUST be entered in one of the Regular Classes, but there is no additional entry fee for them as participants with their sire in this non-regular class. The merits of the Stud Dog are not considered in the placement of the entry. The Get only will be judged on the merits of the Get. Therefore, the winners of these classes are NOT eligible to compete for Best of Breed or for Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed.
• Get are NOT named on the entry form • All Get must be examined and gaited. • While the merits of the Stud Dog are not to be considered in the
placement of the entry, the Stud Dog must be examined to determine if it has a condition that would require its disqualification or being excused under the Dog Show Rules, AKC policy or the standard for the Breed.
• Note: AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows Chapter 11 Section 8 “A castrated
male may be entered as Stud Dog in the Stud Dog Class and a spayed bitch may be entered as Brood Bitch in the Brood Bitch Class
Brood Bitch Class: Same as Stud Dog Class except substitute Brood
Bitch for Stud Dog, and Produce for Get.
Brace Class: Effective January 1, 2005. A Brace is defined by the
AKC as two (2) dogs of the same recognized breed or variety that are similar in appearance, performing in unison, and presented by a maximum of two handlers. Both dogs competing in Brace competition must have at least one common owner. The dogs comprising the Brace must be named at the time of the entry. Entry fee is $28 for the pair. Specify “Brace Only” on each dog’s entry form. If either dog that is to be part of a Brace is entered in another class, specify “Brace” in the “Additional Class” section on the entry form; the fee is $20 for the pair. Neither of the dogs in
the pair is required to be entered in a regular class.

and animals on the show grounds at any time while the show is in progress, do
by attending this show or participating therein, grant to the Club the right to photograph,
televise, video tape, audio tape or otherwise use their likeness and
voice in any manner without further release or consent
• The Club and its members are not responsible for the actions or products of commercial
vendors at this show.
• A $3.00 AKC Event Service Fee and a $.50 Recording Fee will be required for each dog entered at any Licensed or Member club show. These are included in
the Entry Fees. Event Service and Recording fees are to be collected by the Show-giving club
and paid to the American Kennel Club. If a dog is entered in more
than one class in the show. Fees are to be collected on each entry, except sweepstakes,
junior showmanship and multiple dog non-regular classes
(American Kennel Club rule, Chapter 11, Section 2.)
• No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which states any
conditions as to its acceptance.
• Entry Fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, excused by Veterinarian
or Judge, or barred from competition by action of the event’s Show Committee. If because of riots, wars, strikes, civil disturbances, national emergencies, health emergencies, and the
dictates of law enforcement or of the owners of the grounds and/or facilities or other acts
beyond the control of the management it is impossible to open or to complete the show, no
refund of entry
fee will be made. Extreme weather conditions, such as, but not limited to snow storms,
hurricanes, lightning, extreme heat, heavy rains, or other circumstances including but not
limited to, the condition of the facilities or grounds and/or the ingress and egress from the
grounds, must be considered for the health and
safety of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators. The well-being of dogs exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance and, in the event it is necessary to
cancel or stop the show before completion, no refund of entry will be made.
• Post-dated Checks and Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The show
Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check or declined debit or
credit card.
• NO refund for duplicate entries. Every effort will be made to catch duplicate
entries, however, if an entry has been processed, no refund will be made.
• An Administrative Fee of $3.50 will be withheld from all refunds for entries
cancelled prior to closing. Due to the cost of processing, no refunds under
$5.00 will be made. • Errors on Entry Blanks. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry
forms, whoever may make such errors; no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such
errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date.
• Dogs may arrive any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. Dogs not required for
further judging will be excused. Judges will not wait for any dog
holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of
their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called to be judged.
• All dogs present must be held on leach or confined to their crates except when
being judged or when in the exercise pen.
• NO generators are permitted inside any building or within 100 feet of any tent in which this
dog show is conducted.

AKC NATIONAL OWNER-HANDLER SERIES (NOHS)

The AKC National Owner-Handled Series is a non-titling competition for dogs that are exhibited by their owners that are not professional handlers.
• All dogs that are owner-handled and are not solely owned or exhibited by professional
handlers* meet the requirements for this competition. Exhibitors must declare their dog is
“Owner-Handled” eligible at the time of entry on the entry form. Eligible dogs will be
indicated with an asterisk in the Steward’s book and the catalog.
• Dogs must be handled throughout the breed level competition for the regular show by an eligible
owner. Professional handlers*, household members and current assistants** to professional
handlers may not exhibit the dog in this competition.
• Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety will be selected from the dogs that are eligible to
compete in the Best of Breed/Variety competition including Winners Dog, Winners Bitch and
winners of the non-regular classes. However -
• If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is Owner-Handled competition eligible, it will
automatically be Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety and be eligible to compete in both
the regular as well as the Owner-Handled group.
• If the Best of Breed/Variety winner is not eligible for Owner-Handled competition and the
Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety is eligible, the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of
Breed/Variety will compete against the eligible exhibits of the other sex to determine
Owner-Handled Best of Breed/Variety.
• If neither the Best of Breed/Variety nor the Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety
are Owner-Handled competition eligible and Select Dog & Select Bitch are both eligible, the
judge
is to choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the Selects and eligible Winners Dog or
Winners Bitch.
• If one of the Selects is eligible, excuse all Champions and non-regular class winners of the
same sex and then choose Best Owner-Handled exhibit from the remaining dogs of the
opposite sex including the eligible Winners.
• If the regular show Best of Breed/Variety, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed/Variety,
Select Dog & Select Bitch are not eligible, the judge may choose any eligible dog who
competed in Best of Breed/Variety including Winners Dog or Winners Bitch as the Best of
Breed/Variety for the AKC National Owner-Handled Series.
• If the Best of Winners is eligible, the other Winners are ineligible since it was defeated.
• No class dogs other than the Winners Dog & Winners Bitch are eligible to return to the ring.
• The breed will not be represented in the Owner-Handled Group (for an all breed show) if
there is no eligible dog competing in the Best of Breed/Variety or in Best of Winners
competition.
Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a
professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or
represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years,
A current assistant is defined as anyone employed by a professional handler on a full-time
basis, or, assisting a professional handler at the show or any show during the cluster/weekend.

I (we) agree that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. 1 (Variety) if you are entering a dog of breed in which there are varieties for show purposes, please designate the
particular variety you are entering, i.e., Cocker Spaniel (solid color black, ASCOB, parti-color), Beagles (not
exceeding 13 in., over 13 in. but not exceeding 15 in.), Dachshunds (longhaired, smooth, wirehaired), Collies (rough,
smooth), Bull Terriers (colored, white), Manchester Terriers (standard, toy), Chihuahuas (smooth coat, long coat),
English Toy Spaniels (King Charles and Ruby, Blenheim and Prince Charles), Poodles (toy, miniature, standard).
2 The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed competition: Dogs that are Champions
of Record and dogs which, according to their owners’ records, have completed the requirements for a championship,
but whose championships are unconfirmed. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is
limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a
championship.
3 (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is
divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering
your dog, i.e, age division, color division, weight division.
4 A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a
registered dog has been acquired by a new owner it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for
which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration
certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been
