Congratulations to everyone who played over the week with many visitors making an effort to come to our club. Well done to all the winners, there were many good stories in the clubhouse and it was good to see it full for most days. The General & Match Committee needs to be congratulated in voting to move our tournament from July to November, as the weather was great. The online time sheets have started and if anyone is having trouble or are unable to do this you can always ring the club or see Matt or you Captains for advice. This will be a big help in the future and there will be a few bugs in it. Please be patient changes will take a while. Thanks to Matt for all the work in implementing this. The social club continue to kick goals with Sam McDonald’s 50’s club going very well. Two dollars can win you Fifty Dollars with only fifty chances. If anyone has any ideas for us to fundraise please talk to any of our social club members. Our Barefoot bowls was well supported and hopefully got a few more people interested in coming to our club. The Volunteers groups continue to grow, if anyone wants to help in any way please come forward. Many work hours are being done and the results are showing around the clubhouse and the course. The 2016 Master Champion and Jack Hurst memorial winner was Callum Sharp. Well done Callum, the practise is paying off. It is great to see our junior golfers doing so well at the club. We have our Super Santa Sunday on Sunday 11th December a fun day. Put your team in 3 ball ambrose and name for Christmas dinner. The Presentation night on the Friday at Sporting Legends sports bar. Thanks to Jo Ballinger, Andrew Taylor and Sam McDonald for all the help. Thanks to everyone for coming it was a great night. The highlight of the night was the new service awards, the recipient were: Pam Schaper Kevin Maxfield Ron Smalley Jo Ballinger They all have done over and above what is expected of them as a volunteer for the club. Pam has worked tirelessly over many years as Ladies Captain, Tournament Secretary and the General Committee She has always been available to help at any time Kevin has put in many hours in the Golf Shop as well as a long term member of the General Committee, and Men’s Captain and Vic Captain. He has always been ready to help.

Ron has always been on call as our house person. He has helped run our working bees and been on our General Committee. Jo has been our Secretary and Ladies Captain and Vic. Captain. Jo has been there for the club for many years as well as helping many golfers out. Jo has been a huge help to me as President, she has been there for me to help run the club no matter what the situations were. Poolside Heating and Leisure’s Glen Schuback again donated a Webber Q BBQ for a lucky door prize. Ben Walker was the winner. I would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Hope you all have an enjoyable time and drive safely. Good Golfing President Greg.

Captains Desk As the golf season is ending the effort by members to make the Christmas season a fun one has been a joy to see. The local rules board will be changed over Christmas so keep looking at it for updates. Also, keep an eye out for snakes around the course as there has been many reports of snakes around the area. Have a merry Christmas and we will continue the golf in January.

Course Report Monday 28th Nov the greens were cored. By Thursday there was minimal sand visible on the greens. Reasons for this: A different sand was used which was applied wet. The sand was then left to dry before it was spread around. This meant that it dropped easily into the coring holes. For the next couple of days Aaron hand watered the greens to wash all the sand into the holes. A fantastic job by Aaron, JMJ Turf Renovations, Gary Sisely and all those that helped spread the corings. This coming Tuesday arvo the Greens Group will be going hole by hole to identify

projects to be done in the next 12 months. These projects will be costed, prioritised

and added to the Clubs Strategic Plan. The “2016 –2018 course vegetation plan” will

be used and followed when identifying these projects.

In 2017 bunker restorations will be top priority.

Some of the projects that have been undertaken this year include;

Tree root cutting, this has made a big difference to the grass growth in these areas.

Fairways scarified, our fairways already showing improvement, a bit more spongy to

walk on.

Garden beds, these look great and are helping to preserve our tee blocks. In

particular, the ladies 4th tee, as now players aren't continually walking / driving over

this tee block.

All sprinkler points on the course have been located and cleaned out. A lot of

broken bayonets were found in the work shed, these have been repaired and now

being used. You may have noticed that a lot more sprinklers are now on at the same

time.

Parramatta grass is being tackled. This is a very time consuming job as spot

poisoning must be done.

Monday working bees have been fantastic, with Ron Smalley in charge volunteers

are allocated jobs to be done. It is a great sense of achievement and pride to see

your little job completed and the feedback from our members is both positive and

rewarding. We have had up to 14 volunteers on any given Monday, but there is

always room and jobs for many more. If you have spare time on a Monday morning

come out and join in. Our morning always finishes with Kev’s BBQ, a drink and

stories to tell.

Regards, Greens Group

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all Winners of each of honour board and trophy events and wish you well in defending your titles in 2017.
