We, the members of Saints Michael and Theresa High School Youth Ministry, come together to unify the youth of our communi es. We look to make a difference by encouraging teens to live, understand, and enjoy their faith each and every day.  

We are “today’s youth making an impact on the world of tomorrow.”

What Is Youth Ministry?

Youth Ministry is one of the solu ons to the bigness of our culture and to the size of our church. This program is a great way to connect with other young people and develop friendships with those

who are trying to grow in their rela onship with God.

Our dream is that every young person who comes to Saints Michael & Theresa Youth Ministry on a Sunday can call it their home and will know they are ALWAYS welcome here.

What does a typical Sunday night look like at STMTYM?

On a regular Sunday night we gather for our topic mee ng. Though some mes the schedule varies slightly we do follow a basic format

7:00 pm Doors Open Time to hang out, sign ups, etc

7:35 pm We gather members together in the gym

7:40 pm Icebreakers (we usually play one of two games/ ac vi es for members to get to know each other)

8:00 pm Gather in Youth Room for our Topic Discussion This includes Skits/ Presenta ons/ Small group discussions

8:55 pm Wrap Up/ End our gathering in Prayer

9:00 pm Announcements

9:05 pm Time to relax, sign ups,. Etc

9:30 pm Night ends

What Are The Basic Rules?

Like anything there are basic rules to our Program. These mainly include RESPECT. Respec ng OUR PROPERTY and ALL WE HAVE, Respec ng EACH OTHER (by language and ac ons) and more so Respec ng YOURSELF. About Our High School Program

Our Youth Ministry Program is open to ALL students in High School, grades 9 thru 12. The program meets regularly on Sunday nights during the school at 7:30pm in the Youth Room which is located in the basement floor of St. Michaels School in Cranford. At a regular Sunday night Mee ng, we open at 7pm, and get started around 7:30pm. A nights mee ng includes games, discussions, a presenta on or talk on a par cular subject, prayer and more. Most mee ngs are planned and run by high school students themselves.

The comprehensive program is coordinated by our Youth Minister and Associate Youth Minister along with a group of teens called the TEAM. The program uses the recommenda ons outlined by the Na onal Conference of Catholic Bishops through the "Renewing the Vision" document to create a program that tries to address all the needs of today’s Catholic teens.

The High School Youth Ministry Program sponsors many trips, social events, service projects and spiritual experiences during the academic year.

Finally every THURSDAY all members of the Youth Ministry Program will receive a weekly email from us. It will include any and all reminders, informa on that you need to know for that weekends mee ng. It will also include a short “Spread the Faith” reflec on that we hope you will read. Its kinda our way to allow you to stop and apply your faith to modern everyday life.

Member Accounts

Each youth group member once they fill out a card will have a mock “youth ministry savings account” opened for them here. When we have certain fundraisers you can work that fundraiser, raise funds for yourself and have the money put into your account.

The money in your account is good for the en re school year for any trip or event we run. You just need to let us know that you want to use the funds for that certain event.

About Our Youth Ministry Program What is the Youth Room? The Youth Room is the official home of Saints Michael & Theresa Youth Ministry Program. It is where mem‐bers can hang out and relax. It’s actually divided into two rooms – one full of couches where we meet, and one where members can relax before and a er mee ngs. The “inner room” has in it a flat screen TV, a ping png table, a foosball table, an air hockey table, a Wii and PS system and couches. The “outside room” or the mee ng space has many of the group pictures from our various events over the years. What are all the Handprints on the wall from? When you are in the “inner room” you will no ce the one wall full of hand prints. This “Hand Print Mural” was started 6 years ago and is the hand prints of all the members that have passed through our program.

Once a member joins our group they are allowed to add their hand print to the wall. Hand prints are usually added the second Sunday night of every month. Where is the Youth Ministry Office? The Youth Ministry Office is located in the basement floor of St. Michaels School – right off the Cafeteria.

Rich and Valeria are usually in the office at St. Michael’s on Sunday a ernoons, or are available by phone or email at any me. Who is Holy Cow? The Holy Cow is the official Mascot of Saints Michael & Theresa Youth Ministry Program. Holy Cow appears on our t‐shirts, and other flyers we produce. The Holy

Cow makes appearances at some of various events! We will once again have our line of “Holy Cow” wear for you show off the Holy
