Saint Simon the Apostle Return to School Plan Masks Students, faculty and staff will wear a mask both outdoors and indoors, when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Students may remove masks when using partitions at their desks, for outdoor learning, lunch and recess. Classrooms All K-8 students will sit at individual desks that are positioned according to Marion County Health Department requirements. Each desk is equipped with a partition to reduce the spread of germs. Supplies will not be shared. Physical / Social Distancing Common areas such as hallways, are marked in 6 ft. increments as a guide to maintain distance. Healthy Hygiene Practices Each classroom has a hand sanitizer dispenser. Students will also wash hands throughout the day. Cleaning Procedures Classrooms are equipped with disinfectant kits for frequent cleaning of high-touch surfaces. Our cleaning crew will disinfect the school nightly and deep clean on weekends. Learning Communities Each homeroom is a learning community, students will not spend time with students outside their learning community to limit the number of contacts a student has throughout the day. Teachers will push into each classroom to teach various subjects. Arrival and Dismissal Students will practice physical distancing when entering the building in the morning. In the afternoon, parents will display their assigned family number on their dash board and wait in carpool lines with their hazard flashers on. Once all children are in the car, parents will turn off their hazard flashers and wait for the car lines to dismiss. Catholic Identity Growing our students’ faith is more important than ever. Students will attend mass weekly, while maintaining physical distancing. Grades levels will be grouped together for mass on different days of the week. Family Self Screening Each morning families are expected to screen their children for symptoms and take their temperature. Recess All students have scheduled recess each day with their learning community. Each learning community will enjoy recess in one of three zones and rotate throughout the zones during the week. Students Need These Everyday Hand Sanitizer Water Bottle Lunch Mask Lunch Students will eat lunch in their classrooms. No hot lunch will be served.
