“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” - Matthew 7:7-8

New Year is Coming As we approach the end of the Liturgical Year, how do you plan to begin your Spiritual New Year? What Spiritual and non-Spiritual gifts have you received this year? Have you thought about your abundant blessings? Have you taken a Spiritual Inventory of how God has blessed you this past year? How do you say “Thank You”? Have you thought of how you could respond to friends and community in need? Does your heart ache when you see someone in need? Do you feel that “great feeling” helping someone “just because you can”? Have you ever done something for someone, and no one knew about it but you, and it changed someone’s life? Have you just been there for someone when they needed a shoulder to cry on or an ear for listen-ing? Has someone been there for you?

All things are possible with God and His abundant grace and love. We are to be able to turn to God in good times and in bad. How fortunate we are to have a community of believers to support us and help us to respond to God’s calling when we need to find a way to serve Him. Do you know you can serve your parish community in so many different ways? Are you a Martha or a Mary? Do you want to work behind the scenes and support others or do you want to show the way? Do you like to work at home and not attend a lot of meetings? Or do you like to socialize? Do you want to mentor? Do you want to serve?

Pray, Pray, Pray, Pray. Ask God to show you the way. Ask God to guide you in your service to Him and to others. Ask God to light your path, discern your call. Ask God how serving Him can add joy and hap-piness to your life and to your family’s life by giving of yourself to oth-ers. What a great time of year! Father has asked us to think about where our time, talent and treasures can be used to fulfill our mission. Is it a new ministry? Is it a new service? Is it a new learning oppor-tunity? Is it a sacrifice for others? Is it stepping out of the box and saying YES to GOD! This is YOUR year, this is YOUR time, share your-self – YOU have so much to offer!

Your Support is Making a Difference! Thanks to all of you, students at Our Mother of Special Graces have the opportunity to learn trades!

“[St. Philip’s parishioners] have financed the build-ing and furnishing of THE ST PHILIP VOCATIONAL SCHOOL, a Technical Department in our school, Our Mother of Special Graces in Nigeria. The building housing this department is named after St Philip in acknowledgment of the Mission Spirit of the Pastor and parishioners of St Philip Parish, Lewisville. Teaching started there in the new department dur-ing the final term of last academic year. The idea was to introduce the students to the availability of the training for those skills and trades. There are teachers for Architecture, Plumbing, Welding, Elec-trical works, Auto mechanics, Fashion designing, Bakery, Furniture making, Elec-tronics. The students are very much excited with the offer, as they see it as a good opportuni-ty to equip themselves for a useful life after they graduate from the school… This is likely to attract more children of the poor to our school… Any amount, no matter how small, makes a big impact in the lives of the poor in Nigeria.”
