OUR MISSION STATEMENT
SS. Peter & Paul Parish, a community of faith called by God to deepen
our relationship with Jesus Christ, serves the Lord by sharing our time,
talent and treasure. As disciples of Christ, we are called to bring Jesus
Christ to ourselves and others: our children, the sick, the poor, the fallen
away Catholics and those who need to hear God’s message of uncondi-
tional love and forgiveness. SS. Peter & Paul Parish is a beacon of light
rooted in Jesus Christ, passed on to his successor, our Holy Father the
Pope, and is guided by our local bishop to build the Kingdom of God on
Earth. It is our mission to shine the light of Jesus Christ in our world and
to spiritually enrich the individual members of the parish as well as the
larger community through word, worship, sacrament and service.

Second Annual Catholic Men’s Conference
Saturday, April 23, 2016
Men—this is an event that you DO NOT want to miss!
Dr. Scott Hahn from Franciscan University and Monsignor
Charles Pope from the Archdiocese of Washington DC will
be the main presenters at the Second Annual Catholic
Men’s Conference on April 23, 2016 at King’s College in
Wilkes-Barre, PA.
The theme for the Conference is “Jesus Christ, The
Face of True Manhood.” Those who attended last year’s
conference felt that the day was very beneficial. Mark
your calendars now and sign up for the conference at the
entrance of the church. In order to arrange transporta-
tion with a nominal subsidized cost, we need to know the
number of men planning to attend.
Leap Year Party
This year, the calendar gives us an extra day
to celebrate, and we so we shall, with a
LEAP YEAR Party on Sunday, February 28,
2016. We will especially honor any who
celebrate their birthday on February 29th—
yours?—please let us know—email [email protected] or call
570-265-2113. Don’t miss the food, friends, music,
games, costume contest, surprises (anything can happen for
Leap Day). Please gather your family & Friends and
sign up today, so that we can plan appropriately for the
food, activities and entertainment.

this Lent a true faith-filled journey to-
ward Easter. Rise, Shine, for your light
has come! Christina Fleury has more details at 297-9403.
Come join us as we Change Our Hearts this Lent.

2016 Women’s Spring and Fall Cursillos
As we enter 2016, it is time to more seriously consider
making a Cursillo this year. The 2016 dates follow:
Men’s Cursillo — February 25-28, 2016;
Women’s Cursillos—April 14-17, & October 6-9, 2016.
Please speak with either John Demangone, Rob
Grimes, Barbara Krauss, or Christina Fleury. Details and
applications are on the table in the rear of church.
Academic Angel
Will you consider becoming an Academic Angel for the
2016-17 school year? Your contribution is an investment
in a child’s future. You may designate the gift as a memo-
rial or as an honor for someone special. More information
from St. Agnes School 570-265-6803, or from the Diocese
of Scranton Scholarship Foundation, 300 Wyoming Ave.,
Scranton PA 18503.
Youth Group meets 6 pm Feb. 14 in JFK Hall.
Join Matt Kelly for the Best Lent Ever: Rediscover Jesus
Using Matt Kelly’s bestselling book “Rediscover Jesus” as a base, join the email program and make a 40-day spiritual
journey to encounter Jesus – and yourself – in a deeply personal way and nourish a habit of daily prayer.
Sign-up on line at DynamicCatholic.com/Lent and you will receive a daily email with a short video that will
guide you through the 40 chapters of the book. It seems like a very simple way during Lent to bring Jesus into our lives
leading to a more personal relationship with Him. The whole family can participate.
Lent is not just about giving things up. Lent is about doing something. Do something bold. Become a better
husband, father, wife, mother, friend, etc. This program should help you do that. If you need a copy of the book, some
are at the entrance to the church or see Fr. Ed ASAP.
Free Bible Study Online—Begins this week
“The Bible and the Blessed Virgin Mary,” a free twelve-week Bible study with Dr. Scott Hahn, is being offered online
beginning February 10, 2016. Each 30 minute segment will remain online for one and a half weeks, so you can still en-
joy the first one. See how Mary was prefigured in the Old Testament, what the Gospels reveal about her, and how the
early Church understood her. For details and to sign up for this Journey through Scripture, visit www.stpaulcenter.com.
