ANOINTING OF THE SICK SACRAMENT The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is offered after the 9:00am Mass on the First Saturday of each month. Those who are facing surgeries or very serious health issues can see the priest after the Mass. The Anointing will take place near the Statue of Mary at the front left of the Church. The oils are reserved in the “Olea Sancta” Repository (Holy Oils) near the Baptismal Font. Family and friends are most welcome to be present together during the Anointing.

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Every Friday, there is Exposition of the Blessed Sacra-ment from 8:30am-12:00pm (between the two daily Masses). Please plan on coming to pray. Be sure to pray for Peace in the Holy Land with the Peace Dove that is lit on the side altar. Prayer cards with the history of the ori-gins of the Dove and suggested prayers are in the basket by the Dove. Also, If you could sign up for an hour a week, or once a month, that would be great. Please contact the main office or see the sign up sheet at the Church en-trance. We need at least two people for each hour. This is a real blessing for the mission of the Parish, the Harvard Catholic Center and the Choir School.

SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your warm welcome to Fr. Patrick Fiorillo last Sunday and throughout the week. We are so happy that he is settling in so well.

I also want to thank the parishioners and many others who supported the Choir School Gala last Saturday. It was a great success, due to the extraordinary work of the committee , choir school parents and staff. This is our largest fundraising event of the year. It is critical to the work of the school and also provides an opportunity for those who cherish our mission to be together. For several days this week, many of the students, staff and families of the Choir School will be heading to Montreal, Canada for a pilgrimage/performance tour. I’m very happy to be able to join this trip and we are grateful for your prayers. On the choir’s return, we will have our Annual Spring Concert on Sunday, May 20 at 3:00pm. As the program features German choral music, we will come together in the parish courtyard after the performance for some German beer, wine, pretzels, cheese, crackers and soft drinks. This is a parish event, so please reach out and invite many to join together.

We are grateful to the Harvard Knights of Columbus and so many parishioners who this weekend have coordinated the purchase of silk roses to support Pro Life efforts here in the Archdiocese. What a worthy cause and a beautiful way to do it. Next weekend, we will be celebrating the Baccalaureate Mass for our graduating students. Students and faculty have received invitations and instructions to join in the procession. We hope that all can come and celebrate this great day for many of our friends in the St. Paul community. Please join us afterwards in DiGiovanni Hall for a reception.

Next Sunday, between the Mass and reception, we have another fine celebration. For many months we have been working on a renovation of the chapel in the Parish Center, just off the main lobby. Officially now named “The Chapel of the Women Doctors of the Church,” this chapel is open to everyone. It is used daily by the Harvard students for prayer, as the place of weekly gatherings for Evening Prayer led by parishioners and for the monthly Badaliya Prayer Initiative. Many baptisms, Anointing of the Sick and special Masses occur here, too.

The renovation is primarily funded by the parents of the Harvard Class of 2018, with very generous support from Mary-ann LaRuffa Campbell, in memory of her husband John, and by the Badaliya Prayer Group. I had the privilege of working with Professor Chip Piatti in the design and execution of this renovation and it has been an exciting experience of learning and prayer. I am grateful also to Doug Zack, Advancement Director for the Harvard Catholic Center, and to Tom Hogan, Parish Director of Finance and Operations, for their tremendous work for this project. Please pray that all the final pieces come together during this week!!

With gratitude and prayers for all our Mothers, living and deceased, we entrust them all to Mary, Mother of Jesus and of the Church.

God bless, Fr. Kelly

PRAYER FOR MOTHERS Heavenly Father,

from the beginning you have chosen to entrust

the human person to mothers in a special way.

We thank and praise you for the gift of mothers;

for their tenderness, care, and compassion,

for their intuition and encouragement,

for commitment and sacrifice.

Bless all mothers this day.

Keep, strengthen, and refresh them

in your loving care.

May they be blessed by our open-hearted

love and gratitude.

Amen.

Happy Mother’s Day to all Mothers,

with prayers for the living and deceased.

CATHOLIC APPEAL UPDATE…

WE SURPASSED OUR GOAL! We want to thank all those who have responded, while asking others to please contribute. The Archdiocese still needs several million dollars to achieve its campaign goal. A portion of all gifts made now will be rebated to our parish as a reward for exceeding our goal. (Donations may be made at www.bostoncatholicappeal.org).

SPRING CONCERT Please join our Choir of Boys and Men as they sing a con-cert of German Choral Music Sunday, May 20, 2018, at 3:00 pm. Delicious German Pretzels and Wine will be served in the Courtyard following the Concert, included in the ticket price of $40 or $30. Tickets are available at www.saintpaulschoirschool.us or at the door. Doors open at 2:00pm.

MAY 13, 2018

MASS INTENTIONS AT ST. PAUL’S Mass Intentions for daily and weekend Masses are being accepted. Masses may be offered to remember those who have died, for those who are ill, as well as in thanks-giving for a birthday, anniversary or for a special inten-tion. Please contact the Parish Office, (617) 491-8400 for details and to reserve a particular Mass.

BADALIYA AND INTERFAITH GATHERING The Badaliya and Peace Islands Institute Interfaith prayer and faith sharing gathering will meet Sunday, May 20, 3:00pm - 4:30pm in the Parish Center Chapel. Dorothy C. Buck will lead the prayer gathering for peace and rec-onciliation among all faith traditions especially in the Mid-dle East and the Holy Land. For info: call (781) 395-4391, email [email protected] or visit www.dcbuck.com All are welcome!

HANDYMAN/WOMAN NEEDED! Fr. Kelly is looking for a handy man/woman in the parish who might help with a few small projects. All the candle lighters/snuffers we use (about six) need some serious care, as well as a few other items that need to be cleaned, tightened and made stronger for the daily use they re-ceive in Church. Anyone with a work bench at home is welcome to speak with him or call the office.

FOOD PANTRY The food pantry continues to thrive, thanks to our dedi-cated volunteers and generous donors. The items cur-rently at the top of our priority list include mayonnaise, shelf stable milk (both dairy and almond or soy), juice, canned fruit (preferably 100% juice and fruit in juice), and coffee. We have plenty of tuna to distribute, but we do not have a single jar of mayo on the shelves at the mo-ment. We are also having difficulty meeting the demand for shelf stable milk. We strive to offer options that meet the health and cultural needs of our diverse guests while still giving out treats like gourmet candy and pies that would otherwise end up in the trash. Thanks to our part-nership with Fair Foods, we are able to make fresh pro-duce available to many people who would otherwise not be able to afford healthy food.

MONDAY PRAYER GROUP Join fellow parishioners for scripture study and prayer, following the 12:10pm Mass, on Monday’s in Mary’s Room (Room 202).

AT ST. PAUL’S

MAKE AN INTRODUCTION & CHANGE A LIFE Alumni (including our pastor, Father Kelly!) from every era of Saint Paul’s Choir School have described how the school positively transformed their life’s trajectory. Might you know a family with a boy in grade 2 through 7 that you could introduce to us? We are seeking boys who love to sing, and parents who would like a rigorous academic and Catholic education for their son, who may be exploring the benefits of an all-boys school environment, who may be at-tracted by the school’s location in Harvard Square, who may desire that their son attend an elite high school eventually, and who may have mentioned that their son’s current school isn’t challenging enough or an ideal fit. To make an intro-duction, please contact Dianne Flaherty ([email protected]). We appreciate every introduction - thank you!

LIVE THE LITURGY

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK We are called to be missionaries. Jesus said to his disciples: "Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature." Proclaiming the Gospel means looking out at my brothers and sis-ters and choosing to walk with them on their journey of life. It means having a listening, loving presence that allows the Holy Spirit to work in and through us. In this way we can show them-not only in speech, but in action-the difference a relationship with God and a life of faith really makes. Even though Jesus has ascended to the Father, he still remains with us helping us pro-claim the mission of the Gospel. Are we willing to allow him to do so?
