at home, St. Michael’s will provide at-home materials and resources. Middle

School in-person options are listed below as well. 6th and 7th grade students

may be catechized at home, if preferred. *Please note on your completed regis-

tration if you choose the “at-home” program. Due to the First Communion

and Confirmation Sacramental Preparation, 2nd Grade and 8th Grade in-

person attendance is vital.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word: this program is normally offered on

Sunday during both Masses for children ages 3-7. CLW is currently on hold

due to Covid19 restrictions. We will resume when restrictions are removed.

Elementary Faith Formation: The elementary program is for students

in grades 1-5. Class will resume on October 21, 2020 (subject to change due to

Covid19 restrictions).

sume Sunday, October 18, 2020 (subject to change due to Covid-19 re-

strictions). Please note the schedule changes we have enacted as we begin this

special year:

• Sixth Grade students will meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday after 9:00 Mass

(9:30 Mass beginning November 1st)

• Seventh Grade students will meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday after 9:00 Mass

(9:30 Mass after time-change)

• Eighth Grade students will meet every 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday after 9:00

Mass (9:30 Mass beginning November 1st)

• Classes begin at 10:15 and dismiss at 11:45. After Nov. 1st:10:45 – 12:15.

Take the pledge!

Civilize It with civility, clarity, compassion this election year.

A divided country. Fights at the dinner table.

Political vitriol. What does it mean to love

our neighbors in the midst of such a

climate? The U.S. bishops have responded

to that question with Civilize It, a campaign

that invites Catholics to model civility, love

for neighbor, and respectful dialogue in the

2020 campaign season. The year-long

campaign began Nov. 3, 2019.

Take the pledge below as an individual,

family, or community. Anyone and everyone

can commit together to honoring human dignity through civil conversation.

I PLEDGE:

Civility: To recognize the human dignity of those with whom I disagree, treat others

with respect, and rise above attacks when directed at me.

Clarity: To root my political viewpoints in the Gospel and a well formed conscience,

which involves prayer, conversation, study and listening. I will stand up for my convic-

tions and speak out when I witness language that disparages others' dignity, while also

listening and seeking to understand others’ experiences.

Compassion: To encounter others with a tone and posture which affirms that I honor

the dignity of others and invites others to do the same. I will presume others’ best in-

tentions and listen to their stories with empathy. I will strive to understand before

seeking to be understood.

As Catholics, we have a long tradition of engagement in the political process as a means

of putting our faith into action. We are called to bring the best of ourselves and our

faith to the public square—and yet today, many shy away from such involvement be-

cause our national and local conversations are filled with vitriol and harsh language, often

directed at people themselves.

When personal attacks replace honest debate, no one wins. This kind of attack, no mat-

ter the reason, only serves to further divide our communities. As Catholics, we must

model a better way. Join the Civilize It campaign by taking the pledge below as a way to

promote civility, love our neighbors, and build community.

Civilize It is about making room in your heart for those with whom you disagree. We

are called to recognize that each one of us is a beloved child of God and to respond in

love to that reality. Civilize It is a non-partisan call to focus on the dignity of all people,

even when we disagree, and to put faith in action by bearing witness to a better way

forward.

Commit to dignity beyond the debate. Visit: http://CivilizeIt.org to learn more and take

the pledge to #CivilizeIt with civility, clarity, and compassion this election year.

More info: https://grdiocese.org/civilize-it/

Make Me an Instrument of Your Peace: A Prayer for Civility

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where uncivil words prevail, show me

how to model love. Help me remember the God-given dignity of all and invite others to

do the same. Show me how to build bridges and not walls and see first what unites us

rather than how we diverge. Let me seek to understand before asking to be understood.

Give me a listening heart filled with empathy and compassion. May I be clear in sharing

my own position and respectful and civil in describing those of others. Let me never

tolerate hateful ideas. May I invite all to charity and love. Lord, help me to imitate your

compassion and mercy. Make me an instrument of your peace. Amen.

"Remember, Vote for Life. It may be your Own!" -

Mother Angelica

Action: Join in praying for the protection of human life

on Respect Life Sunday, Oct. 4th.

More Info: https://www.respectlife.org/2020

Heavenly Father, the beauty

and dignity of human life was

the crowning of your crea-

tion. You further ennobled

that life when your Son be-

came one with us in his in-

carnation. Help us to realize

the sacredness of human life

and to respect it from the

moment of conception until

the last moment at death.

Give us courage to speak

with truth and love and with

conviction in defense of life. Help us to extend the gentle

hand of mercy and forgiveness to those who do not rev-

erence your gift of life. To all, grant pardon for the times

we have failed to be grateful for your precious gift of life

or to respect it in others. We ask this in Jesus' Name.

Amen.
