Summer is a good time to consider how we might enrich our spiritual lives and grow closer to Jesus. We have a great opportunity every Tuesday to spend some time with Jesus in our quiet, air-conditioned chapel during Eucharistic Adoration. We have a wonderful group of people who have each committed to be there for a particular hour between 9 am and 7 pm so Jesus is never left alone. Many others are able to come in for briefer visits. It would be wonderful for students on break to give some of their time to Jesus. Any one of any age is always welcome. Just drop in. If you would like to participate in this important ministry, let us know. Additional people are welcome at any hour. To volunteer for a regular hour, or to be placed on the sub list, please provide your name and contact information to Anne Chavez at [email protected] or 610-793-2154 or call the rectory at 610-399-6936 to volunteer. We currently need additional adorers for the 3 to 4 pm and 4 to 5 hours.
St. Maximilian Parish Welcomes New Pastor Father Christopher Papa
Fr. Christopher Papa officially became Pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish on Monday, June 17. Fr. Papa comes to us from St. Bernadette Parish in Drexel Hill where he was Pastor for 7 years. Fr. Papa was born and raised in Broomall. He attended St. Pius X Church and grade school, Cardinal O’Hara High School, and graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in 1984 with dual degrees in Marketing and Management. He entered Saint Charles Seminary in 1984 and was ordained to the priesthood on May 20, 1989. His assignments over the years have included St. George in Glenolden, St. Frances Cabrini in Fairless Hills, St. Monica in South Philadelphia, St. Gabriel in Norwood, St. Agnes in West Chester and St. Alphonsus in Maple Glen.
CHARISMATIC PRAYER MEETING The Tuesday evening Charismatic Prayer Meeting is suspended for the summer. We will resume our meetings in September. However, the St. Maximilian Prayer Chain continues throughout the year. It is very easy to submit a prayer request at anytime by emailing the rectory, or [email protected] or writing your request on a prayer intention slip available in the Prayer Request boxes on the tables in the back of Church.

A Very Special Opportunity and Experience
“Biking for Vocations” Save the Date: August 8, 2019
On Thursday morning, August 8th, Seminarians from Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary will begin a 5-day bike tour to spread awareness about vocations and spend time with the faithful of the Archdiocese
of Philadelphia.
They’ll start at the Seminary at 9 in the morning. Their irst stop?
Right here at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Parish!
We are delighted to be hosting these cycling Seminarians on the irst stop of their tour. This is a very
special opportunity to meet with young men discerning God’s call, to hear their stories, and to have some
fun! Plans are underway to make their visit here memorable for them… and for us! Festivities will begin
around 11am… stay tuned to this space for more details as the date draws near. Who should attend? Everyone! Our young parishioners can hear irst-hand about faith journeys. Our older parishioners can be
inspired by how our younger generation is responding to God’s call. Any cycling enthusiasts in the Parish?
Here’s your chance to swap tips and stories with our Seminarians. We’ll have food and games to get
everyone involved. This is a great chance to interact in a fun and active setting. So SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, August 8, 2019 – mid-day. Stay tuned… Want to know more about vocations to the Archdiocesan Priesthood? Check out: www.heedthecall.org

HELP NEEDED WATERING AND WEEDING
THE PARKING LOT FLOWERBEDS Do you like to garden? We’re looking for help with weeding and watering flowerbeds along the tiered walk in the parking lot. Set you own schedule. It’s a wonderful way for families, friends, or individuals to share your time and gardening gifts with our parish community. Please call Charlene Bosken @ 610-470-0133 or email:[email protected]
AID FOR FRIENDS Additional Help Needed!! This easy to do-at-home ministry is the perfect way for families to teach their children the importance of community service. Volunteers pick up supplies from a storage locker in West Chester, assemble the empty tray packages at home, and stock the empty tray packages in baskets at the front doors of the church. This small time commitment on your part leaves a huge and lasting impact on the elderly and home bound in our area. Please contact Mary at 610-399-3130 if you would like to team up with her and help with this rewarding ministry.
