HOMELESS MINISTRY REFLECTION“Embrace with tender affection the whole of humanity, especially the poorest, the weakest, the leastimportant…” Pope Francis

“Our St. Jude’s homeless ministry is something weencourage all to join. Doing this doesn’t only earn youmore service hours, it gives a sense of satisfaction. Yougive a few hours of your time to make somebody’swhole week better than it would have been without you.In addition to that, it helps us see firsthand the povertyof some of our fellow children of God. We are constantly encouraged through God’s Word tohelp everyone who needs it. We are obligated to helpthese people. Did you know that the average age of ahomeless person is 9? For almost all of you reading this, that’s younger than you. It is truly heartbreaking and eyeopening. These people need our help and through St.Jude’s we can do just that.”Maggie S., Claire S., Becca S., Caroline O. and Riley N.

Giving our Kindergarten children a firm foundation isvery important to us. And so, after consultation with theteachers, pastor, policy committee, and school board wehave decided to offer only All Day Kindergartenbeginning with 2014-2015 school year. The followingthoughts are from our kindergarten teachers:“All of our specials are now in the morning, which takesaway from our academic time. This is making it verydifficult to get all of the important academics in during themorning hours. All of our centers, math work stations, recess, and fun activities occur in the afternoon. Themorning kids are always missing these activities. Themorning children are also missing out on lots of importantsocial interactions because they are missing recess, centers, and the fun group activities. The other twoclasses both have the gift of time. They can do math oranother subject in the afternoon if they run out of time inthe morning. All of our field trips and parties have had tobe scheduled for the morning. Mornings are very difficultto schedule for field trips. It also makes for a very woundup afternoon when they have had a morning party. Again, this is just because there are so few half day students incomparison to the number of full day students.”Kindergarten Teachers

St. Jude AdventReconciliation ServiceThursday, December 19,7:00 p.m.Join us for this beautifulpreparation for Christmas."Confession is an act ofhonesty and courage - an actof entrusting ourselves, beyond sin, to the mercy of aloving and forgiving God."

--Pope John Paul 2"In failing to confess, Lord, I would only hide You frommyself, not myself from You."--Saint Augustine"Our Lord Himself I saw in this venerable Sacrament . . . I feltas if my chains fell, as those of St. Peter at the touch of theDivine messenger. My God, what new scenes for my soul!"
