The Sacrament of Penance is available on Saturday from 4:00 to 4:45pm in St. Joseph’s Church and any other time upon request. The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated after a period of preparation of no less than six months. Registered parishioners who wish to marry at St. Joseph’s are invited to contact one of the priests during regular weekday office hours before making any other arrangements. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available at any time to any Catholic over the age of reason who is seriously ill, preparing for surgery or suffering the effects of age. The priests of the parish regularly celebrate the Eucharist and administer the sacrament of the sick at the area nursing homes; lay ministers lead services and bring communion to the residents every Sunday.

Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.
Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Marriage and Family: God’s Gifts to the World by Charles Junjulas, MA
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches:
“The vocation to marriage is written in the very nature of man and woman as they came from the hand of the Creator. Marriage is not a purely human institution...,’The well-being of the individual person and of both hu-man and Christian society is closely bound up with the healthy state of conjugal and family life.’” (Paragraph 1603)
In order to understand and appreciate this Sacred Institution established by God from the very beginning of His Creation, we will explore the Sacrament of Marriage and the importance of the Family in two areas of Church teaching: Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. We will also explore the crisis of Marriage and Fam-ily in the world today and how we as Catholic Christians can protect and defend these gifts of our Heavenly Father.
Please join us for any or all three sessions in the Parish Center:
•Marriage in Sacred Scripture: Monday, June 22 from 6:45pm-8:00pm
•Marriage in the Sacred Tradition of the Church: Tuesday June 23 from 6:45pm-8:00pm
•Marriage and Family in the World Today and How We Can Defend Them: Wednesday, June 24 from 6:45pm-8:00pm
About the Speaker:
Charles Junjulas received his Masters in Dogmatic Theology from St. Joseph’s Seminary. He teaches full time at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, is an instructor in the Archdiocese of NY Deacon For-mation Program, and is Director of Adult Faith Formation at Pius X Parish in Scarsdale, NY.
He has taught as an adjunct Professor at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Rockland County, NY and Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY. He has offered numerous talks and classes on Scripture and Theology throughout the Archdioceses’ of New York and Connecticut.
He is married and has four children and is a member of the “Knights of the Immaculata”.

On this Mother’s Day weekend, we remember the tremendous blessing Mothers are to us.
We remember at Mass this weekend and this week all of our Mother’s living and deceased.
May God grant eternal rest to all of our Mothers who have gone before us in the life of heaven and May God shower His countless blessings upon our Mothers who remain with us in this life.
Some Reminders on those becoming Sponsors For Baptism and Confirmation
It is a great honor and privilege to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation. The role of a godparent is a sacred duty. You become the “other parent” in the ways of faith. That is why the Church requires spon-sors to be practicing Catholics, 16 years of age or older, having received Confirmation and are living a good Christian moral life. If a sponsor is married, that person must be in a valid Church marriage. One sponsor is required for Confirmation. Two Sponsors are customary for Baptism, in which case one must be a male and the other a female.
If you are to receive a sponsor certificate from the parish priests, the individual must be a current pa-rishioner, and known to the priest as being a practic-ing Catholic, attending Mass regularly. It is im-portant for all individuals to be active members of their local Catholic faith communities.
If you are in need of a sponsor certificate, please call the parish office and one the priests will set up a meeting with you.
Please note that the parishioner who is seeking to be the sponsor must come in person to meet with a priest and sign the sponsor form.
